Has anyone heard any reports on

"Operation Forward Together" - the joint sweep through Baghdad to clean out the "terrorists"? I looked over at Juan Cole and he said that he has "seen no reporting on the progress of the supposed sweep of guerrillas in Baghdad. It doesn't in any case appear to have put a crimp in the car bomb industry, as yet." Car bombs are going off in Baghdad at a greater pace now, than ever.

This was so hyped as such a big deal and has, so far, been such a dismal failure that if it weren't for the death and destruction, it would be funny...

2. Yeah, I've looked for progress reports on the "sweep", but have

found almost nothing - only constant and increasing reports of insurgent violence. This is where US troops should just "say No". Why in the name of any god would someone go into that meat grinder just to help the Dictator and his chief propagandist pull the wool more firmly over the publics eyes? Shit...

3. I suspect it is kinda' like the big sweep they had supposedly in

conjunction with the Iraqi troops of a couple weeks ago, A big flop.

4. The Dictator and his cronies really are just one-trick ponies.

All they seem able to do is stage wag-the-dog "pageants" that make the old "Potemkin Villages" look like downtown Moline. The scary thing is that they have such contempt for the American public that they think this kind of continued sham will be effective. I hope that they are wrong...
