Poll question: Have you received US currency bills with a message?
Have you received any bills with a little message? I've seen a number of dollar bills with the Where's George stamp, but am starting to see bills with messages like "Impeach" and "Bush Lies." Have you seen any of these?

3. What happened to the law about defacing currency?
Normally, I would say you had a lot of balls to admit this, but wheresgeorge has a website. Was the law repealed or are they just not enforcing it?

No judgment on you; just wonderin'.

5. Writing on a bill is not considered illegal, unless
it makes the bill unuseable.

Whoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued,

Defacement of currency in such a way that it is made unfit for circulation comes under the jurisdiction of the United States Secret Service.

9. Yup - don't mess with the serial number or any of the denomination
numbers.

From America is Art:

The Law and You: For those of you that think this is "defacing" currency and is against the law, please be advised: This is ONLY TRUE if your markings alter the useability of the bill, such as altering its serial number or denomination "with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued." So, be careful to only write in the "white space" at the top of the rear of the bill. It turns out that you can draw all over your money, just don't make the bill "unfit for use."

I've only used play money so far but hmmm...MORE discretion is advised of course with the REAL thing, but hopefully... I would reccommend not posting pics of the real stuff.

I dropped this play money areound a year or so ago.

7. Just write in the margins...
They're using a validation marker on new bills at some cashier stations. This is no different.

10. "No Blood For Oil" on a $10
I kept it for a while and then sent it on it's way to spread the message. It was stamped on there and not handwritten.

11. Get a custom rubber stamp!
I did a search looking for "Impeach Bush" stamps and didn't find any. I did find places where you could get a custom rubber stamp with a message of your choice:
