Video of Al Gore on Charlie Rose online here -- MUST SEE TV
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 08:50 AM by Armstead
Last night Gore was on Charlie Rose (PBS) for the full hour, and he gave the most amazing interview I've ever seen.

It was light-years beyond his apperances on the cable talk shows, because Gore had the time to actually go into his arguments on global warming....Also he went far beyond that, to talk about the Iraq War, the Bush administrtion, Oil and geopolitics.

Charlie Rose was less intrusive than usual, and he gave Gore all the space and the right questions that was needed for a real conversation.

Gore shone brighter than I've ever seen him. He politely but clearly laid the blame for our lack of a global wartming policy firmly at the feet of the Bush administration, and he went further, explaining how the Iraq War fit into the bigger picture.

I knid of doubt Gore will run for President again. But if enough Americans were to see this interview, I'm sure he could be elected by a wide margin.

Here's the link to it on Google Video. (They charge 99 center for high-quiality download, but have a free version streamed online)

What amazed me is how Gore ws able to tie so many disparate events and trends into a coherent picture.

30. Interesting, he said * is smart, but "incurious" and that accounts for
him just accepting what Cheney, Rover and Rummy wanted to do. Gore was great in that interview.

23. I think Al Gore is one of a handful of honest Democrats that speak Truth..
to Power.

FWIW: I think Al and I see things pretty damn close - Al being far more careful of what he says in public. By FAR Al would be my dream candidate in 2008.

26. I'd be real curious to hear what he thinks in private
Gore is, by temprement and training, courteous and circumspect and diplomatic in what he says publicly.

I'd love to hear him in unguarded and unpublic moments. I suspect he'd have a much harsher tongue about these things.

But one of the impressive things in this interview is that he spoke truth to power and got the point across in an understated -- but effective -- way.

47. Did anybody notice his response to Charlie's question
about addressing climate change in 2000? Joe Klein has put out this nonsensical, dishonest book that claims Gore wouldn't talk about it.

Of course he talked about it a lot, but the press didn't cover it because they didn't care. The MSM is part of the problem, not the solution. Gore has also said that in no uncertain terms more than once, but right now, he's focused on saving the world.

56. Gore is evolving in an extraordinary manner...
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 10:28 AM by Dunvegan
...and the metaphor of evolving a slide carousel presentation into "An Inconvenient Truth," just shows the power of truth, persistance, and decency.

The man rose quietly from where he landed like the morning sun...while "dimson" is dropping over the horizon into darkness.

I remain in "Draft Gore" mode...and everything I see and hear from Al only reconfirms this for me every day.

We need this person to lead this country.

Good Gawd...if Nixon's re-run was successful...the office is Gore's if he wants it.

I want him to try, just one more time, to run for the presidency, for the good of America and the world.
