The congress has had a pay raise of 23% in the last nine years
while the minimum wage has had a 0% raise in nine years. You would think that congress would give a hefty minimum wage raise so they could collect more tax money for their illegal war and to support all the illegal immigrants.

1. That's dirty secret #2 about a minimum wage hike
It would automatically increase revenues by increasing the amount of dollars withheld for FIT along with the OASDI overpayments that are being robbed and put into the general fund.

The #1 dirty secret is that it would spur a sluggish consumer economy. Putting money into the hands of people who need to spend it always does that.

Raising the minimum while rolling back all tax giveaways to the wealthy and increasing their taxes to make up for the economic bungling of the present administration are the two essential steps to take when we throw these witless jerks out of office.

After that, they can perhaps reassess what free trade has done to the US economy and rectify the worst of it.

3. My biggest hope is that
the damage that this administration had done can be corrected. I know it might take decades to get America back on track and that it will take decades of Democratic rule to do it.

10. Re: dirty secret # 1. This would do a lot more to increase
consumer spending than that $300.00 check they sent everyone to boost the economy a few years ago.

4. Fascinating. I'm a professional
and my pay has stayed exactly the same in the past nine years. Low. Well, kind of--had different jobs and my pay went up a bit, up a bit more, then DOWN at a job I took when my last one was phased out. And my biggest rate increase at this job in the past three years was 2 1/2 percent. Woo frickin' hoo.

6. me too!
I have had a couple of decent increases and a couple of decreases, but generally it has hovered (which sadly makes me happy as i was worried about the decreases!)

wtf.

I think Congress should be paid minimum wage - seriously. Their public service should be seen as a privilege, and they should get paid minimum wage. Shit, it's not like they work that long or hard - they could always do it as a second job if they want to make more.

5. Thanks for that percentage. I was wondering how much of
of an increase congress had received earlier in the day. A stat that needs to get out there. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt of few of our Dem reps to forgo their increase this year in solidarity with the people.

8. I voted to give myself a raise. Landslide of 1-0.
Unfortunately, unlike when the politicians voted themselves a raise, the taxpayers refused to cough up the dough.
