Dallas may ban realistic toy guns

Toy guns can appear as dangerous as the real thing — robbers have passed them off as weapons and police have mistaken kids' games for possible crimes, activists say.

The bans, Carter said, mainly serve to protect police from liability if an accident should occur.

The last line I would think is the most telling, pulling a realistic gun and running at a police officer is an easy way to fulfill suicide. I guess cops want laws to prevent them from being used in this manner.
