3. Jesus, protect us from your followers
I had a restaurant full of God's Army kids last year. Some about 6 years old. It was way creepy with all of them in black "God's Army" t-shirts. That video is frightening.

5. I couldn't watch the whole thing either
I saw the first minute or two and turned it off after one guy said something about working in Karl Rove's office.

How do we stop these freaks when they are breeding new little fascists and grooming them for future oppression?

11. I'm not sure Salem is even in the same league
with some of the lunatics I've met in this day. That was more bad group hysteria than the systemic murder of the full "burning times". One day the US will be officially labeled a "Christian Nation" (as if it isn't already) and all pagans, yep that includes you muslims and jews, will be enemies of god and therefore enemies of the state. These people stopped being in touch with what the actual "Divine Force" is a long time ago. Probably seconds out of the womb.

12. Don't fall into the paranoia trap, my friend
Mystics I know are visualizing a quickening of consciousness, and are protecting one another with white light. Fear, anger, and paranoia can open holes in your defenses-been there, done that. Call on the Goddess(es) for protection, and do your ceremonies. And know you are not alone.

13. I fear this "quickening" you speak of may come only after
a huge culling of the human population. Whther through our own means or mother earth being unable to support us all. I fear it will get worse before it gets better.

these drones as quite comical. Like any fanatics they have no concept of a higher being. They are brainwashed individuals who make public displays a centerpiece of their belief system. As Joseph Campbell so clearly stated, "he who know he knows, doesn't know. He who knows he doesn't know, knows". These children and their masters are so sure they know the answers that they could not be further from the truth. The truth that is unknowable.

19. Welcome to the South!
Although I am sure moderates, progressives, non-religious types and those without their head in a paper bag outnumber these jackasses by a large margin, they are certainly the squeeky wheel in the more conservative circles of the southern United States. They certainly are a unique case-study to the effectiveness of mass-brainwashing and cult ideology.

Honestly, these Christian groups are getting quite scary as they feel a shift away from their flawed ideology. But of course, I will be the first one to defend their rights to worship as they please, as long as they don't try to cram their beliefs down my throat or judge me publicly.

"...I don't care what Plato says. We don't need the world's knowledge and information to guide us. We need the world's knowledge and information... but it's basically what you'd call in political terms opposition research."

-- from the president's induction speech.

Can't get any clearer than that. Indoctrination trumps inquiry, cant trumps individual thought, non-approved knowledge is to be feared. It's not a college, it's a Maoist re-education camp for Jesus.

29. This documentary was on in the UK
Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 01:48 PM by tenshi816
a couple of weeks ago and chilled me to the bone. I did a bit of Googling about it at the time and it's going to be shown on a cable channel called Discovery Times in the States at the end of this month. More at link: http://times.discovery.com/tvlistings/episode.jsp?episode=0&cpi=115419&gid=0&channel=DTC

You know what gets me the most, aside from the glassy-eyed looks and incurious attitudes of the Patrick Henry College students? It's the fact that this 6-year old unaccredited "college" sends more interns to Capitol Hill than any other college or university in the entire United States. Why are these ill-educated young men and women snagging these plum positions over people who are far more qualified (whatever their political affiliation)? Something is not right here and I think more attention needs to be called to it.

Edited for clarity.

How about those young pup campaign staffers who landed crucial posts in the Coalition Provisional Authority? Or the young moron who went on a crusade to purge evolution from NASA websites? Harriet Miers. The veterinarian appointment to the Office of Women's Health. John Bolton. Condolleezza Fucking Rice.

Ideological fidelity is the only qualification that counts.

34. I wonder what the attrition rate is for colleges
like this. With their lack of socialization (except for other home-schooled kids) and ignorance of the world (and popular culture), I wonder how many of these young men and women - away from home for the first time - come off the rails and either go wild (tasting something resembling freedom for the first time) or run back home to the safety of mommy and daddy. I wonder if it happens at a greater rate for kids who have no knowledge of the world outside their little Jesus bubble than it does for "regular" kids going off to college.

36. Here's another thing that pisses me off
about Patrick Henry College. In God's Next Army, Michael Farris, the president of PHC, says this:

“The reality is that the vast majority of political and social leaders come from elite colleges, and so we believed it was time to create a parallel Christian institution that could rival Harvard and Princeton and Yale and Oxford. That’s our unashamed goal. We are trying to recreate the Christian Ivy League here and, you know, we’re well on our way to really training that top echelon of leaders. “

What complete and utter bullshit. Patrick Henry College is unaccredited - people can get an education as good or better at a local community college, yet this guy dares to compare his pissant indoctrination academy to the Ivy League schools, with their tradition of academic excellence.

Jesus wept.

And this is where the disconnect is. These little fascists prayed their little hearts out, saying, "It's not in the Democrat's hands, it's not in the Republican's hands, it's in YOUR hands, Lord".

You'd think that when their guy lost, they'd say, "Huh, I guess we were backing the wrong guy, Lord. Sorry."

but No-o-o-o-o-o.
