Wingnut scribe wastes no time in smearing slain soldier's uncle.
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 10:43 AM by VolcanoJen
I'm not certain what exactly the soldier's uncle said on the Today show this morning, but perhaps it was along the lines of this comment in the Washington Post.

"The news is going to be heartbreaking for my family," Ken MacKenzie, uncle of Army Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, told NBC's "Today" show. "Because the U.S. government did not have a plan in place, my nephew has paid for it with his life," he said.

Outrageous, isn't it? :eyes:

Quickly, wingnut scribe John Hinderaker attacked the uncle of the slain soldier.

http://powerlineblog.com/archives/014449.php

In a sick coda, Menchaca's uncle, Ken MacKenzie, appeared on the Today show and recited weirdly inapplicable Democratic Party talking points in relation to his own nephew's death...No shame.

No shame? NO SHAME? Can one even begin to imagine what it feels like to have a loved family member go missing, and then turn up murdered in barbaric fashion? Are Republicans incapable of empathy of any kind? Is slamming the families of murdered victims the latest Republi-trend?

And how is it "weirdly inapplicable" to mention that the Bush Administration still has no plan for victory, let alone stability, in Iraq?

I'll tell you who has no shame, you bastard, you chickenhawk, you sick fuck, John Hinderaker.

More from Prospect.

1. Ann Coulter has made it ok
to defame and smear any grieving family member who dares think that Bush isn't god.

2. Hindrocket truly is...
One of the most vile and disturbed people on the planet. A waste of skin, gravity and electrons.

Oh, when things change, that little man and his little words will be diminished by orders of magnatude. And rightly so.

4. Greg Sargent's response to Hindrocket is spot-on.
From Prospect:

Let me put this as clearly as I can: To the likes of Hinderaker, the pain of those who lost loved ones to this war only matters to the extent that the bereaved allow their grief to be used to prop up the war effort and Bush himself. If the bereaved relatives don't allow their grief to be used in this fashion, their sacrifice and loss no longer matter a whit -- they're not to be pitied or empathized with, but scorned and humiliated as brutally as possible. Despicable.

That really is the way these fuckers think, isn't it? Despicable, indeed.

6. Hey, it's just psychology at work here.
When it's a person's side's business to believe something, as improbable as it is, that person makes an effort to believe it, no matter how otherwise nuts it looks to an outsider. In this case, anyone not supporting the war are enemies of the war movement. Therefore, relatives of slain US troops who don't support the war in their statements must be commie pinko bastards. Evidence can be found later. One simply starts with the verdict and works one's way back to plausibility.

So here, there's no such thing as grief - grief's private. This is using a nephew's death to provide a platform to condemn the war, which is treasonous and un-American behavior of the most shameless kind. If the war's much more important than the fate of American soldiers and their families to you, this will make TOTAL SENSE. If not, it won't - but in that case, why don't you think the war's important? Huh?

At least that's the psychology of it.

8. This reply to Assrocket got blindcopied widely...
Now this is how to treat a sack of liquid diarrhea like lying lawyer John "Assrocket" Hinderaker:
From: redacted

Subject: Both barrels on Ken MacKenzie!
Date: Tue, 20 Jun 2006 11:34:51

How typical of you to claim Ken McKenzie's words were the result of politics and not grief. But then, that's what America has come to expect from reactionary Bushfluffers such as yourself.

I wonder how you'd react if a nephew (or niece) of yours were kidnapped by insurgents, tortured (and why? Can you say Abu Ghrasib, dumbass? Gonzales's and Cheney's actions have consequences, moron), killed and mutilated?

Oh, right -- Bush's so-called war against terror trumps all. You'd be praising the Kennedrunkport Kowboy for his "resolve."

PS: Don't bother replying. I've taken a cue from your fake blog's refusal to allow comments -- and blocked your e-mail addresses (thank G*d for the Conservative Resource Directory).

I strongly suggest everyone share their love with Assrocket.

Smear guy did.

To the Uncle, I'm sorry you lost your nephew and I'm doing everything
I know how to get them all out of harm's way.

To John Hinderaker, you may **** ** **** ***** *****!

11. Does Hinderaker have family in Iraq?
If he doesn't he should shut the fuck up.

MacKenzie is correct. His nephew, Kristian Menchaca, is dead "Because the U.S. government did not have a plan in place...", and Menchaca has paid for it with his life. That's the fugging truth.

13. This from a media who is compliant with the bu$h regime
a media who was in such a rush to report the death of these soldiers they forgot to find out if the family knew first.

We need a media revolution in this country, then the real revolution can happen.

14. Smear first, ask questions later.
If this DUer is accurate, it sounds like the uncle is not too far from the standard wingnut position.

Sad listening to relative of Menchaca who was found dead in Iraq--He said the US should never negotiate and should kill all the insurgents they find without delaying and holding them in prison.

16. Well, I'm a big ol' anti-war lefty, but...
... if my nephew or loved one was tortured and murdered in a barbaric fashion in Iraq, I imagine I'd want whoever did it to be killed immediately, if not in a similar fashion.

I don't think an emotional response like that makes the guy a winger. It makes him kind of human.

I'm saying it's possible the wingnut mentioned in the OP leaped to an inaccurate conclusion about him.
