According to Gonzales and his ilk, these treaties are out of date and no longer apply.

Sure, terrorists are no signatory of the Geneva Convention, but that doesn't relieve us of our duty to follow it verbatim. The day that the BUsh administration marginalized the Geneva Convention and okayed the use of torture as acceptable practice was the day our soldiers were marginalized as well and opened the door for what we just expierenced with the two abducted soldiers. This is going to happen more and more. The question is: how will we as a nation respond? Turn our anger to the easy target, the perps. Or are we going to start asking ourselves some serious questions as to why we are even there in the first place and thusly hold those accountable for putting us in these dark times in the first place?
