Email going around & a response . . .
Have you ever wondered about the exit strategy for Germany or Korea. They're getting on 60 years and we're still there.

That little skirmish in Bosnia that only was to last six (6), "we'll be home in time for Christmas", months and we're still there. Going on ten (10) years

Oh Yeah they were Democrats doings!!! Yet you do not see this in the New York Times or any other major news paper. All any one wants to do is to shed blame on GW for our current actions which so many of the Democrats supported in the beginning.

Shame on them.

============Response=========

Germany declared war on the US before we reciprocated. North Korea attacked South Korea with which we had a mutual protection treaty which means they attacked the US. THERE WAS NO FUCKING CHOICE LEFT TO THE US. And yes we are still there, not because they need us but because we need the remote bases. Iraq is a war of choice based on lies and deceit.

"It is not knowable how long that conflict would last. It could last, you know, six days, six weeks, I doubt six months." -Donald Rumsfeld., February 7, 2003

Bosnia has always been a NATO project and has very few US soldiers involved. How does that stack up against 140,000 US troops with every other "coalition" country pulling troops out? There were NO combat fatalities in Bosnia. How does that stack up to Iraq's 2,500 and 20,000 wounded?

You don't see this in the NYT because it's all right wing political porn. Besides, they all worked out well and are not the abject failure that GWB's adventure in the Middle East is. More than half of the Senate Democrats and almost 2/3 of the house Democrats voted against the BH 114. Many who voted for it have repudiated the vote. Republicans still vote lock step for more involvement.

Shame on you for forwarding this divisive and patently false email. I know it's dark and warm where your head is, but every now and then you should pull it out and look around.

they are so good at these memes. The wingnut spinners seem to know exactly how long one of their flunkies will read before tuning out.

3. OUr soldiers aren't getting
dragged off and beheaded in those places, either.

Maybe we should close our bases in Korea, Germany, Japan and wherever else they are. It's a legitimate issue. IT just doesn't have anything to do with the current occupation and ongoing violence in Iraq. Apples and oranges.

4. I would say, "So you're telling me that I shouldn't be concerned about the
troop level in Iraq until 2063? You plan to stay there for 60 years, too?"

Let's see, in the past 60 years, the Commander-in-Chief has been Republican for how many years?
Truman - 7
Eisenhower - 8
Kennedy - 3
Johnson - 5
Nixon - 6
Ford - 2
Carter - 4
Reagan - 8
Bush - 4
Clinton - 8
Bush - 5

Democrats - 27
Republicans - 33

(some rounding was used.)
