Is the US prepared to fight in a Jihad?

With the death of those GIs, it sure looks like one. The Soviets couldn't do it, can we?

The Soviets simply leveled every town in the area of an ambush. They firebombed and missiled everything to teach the locals a lesson. Many civilians died, but it didn't do anything to address the Afghanis' desire to expel the occupier and seek revenge. The Soviets didn't allow anything like war crimes or crimes against humanity to get in the way of defeating the enemy, and even then, they failed. Only victory they could have gained was through the eradication of everybody able to fight in Afghanistan.

5. "Jihad" means "struggle"

more particularly, struggle with onesself on many different matters (such as breaking bad habits). The greater jihad is the one where the individual struggles with himself to tame the nafs (can be translated as ego) so that one can become closer to God.

Going to battle because one has been denied the right to worship is the lesser jihad, and still means "lesser struggle". The term is often misused, and I wished to clarify its meaning.

Unfortunately soldiers are in Iraq so Americans have the right to sit on a couch and watch the latest Bradgelina movie and order a pizza while not paying a high price for gas. Fundamentalist Christianity is a joke, it's all about money. Those sad fucks would never pick up a gun to defend their so called ideology.

one important question: If there are two sides fighting one another in a war and one side wants to die more than the other side wants to live; who, fundamentally, is going to win in the end?

The Russians couldn't beat the Afghans yesteryear nor can they beat the Chechens today; the British couldn't beat the Afghans; the French (I know, I know) couldn't beat the Algerians; The Indians can't beat the Kashmiri Paks; the Israelis can't quiet the Palestinians nor could they subdue the Lebanese Shi'ites; and the Americans can't put down the Iraqis. Jihadis should be de-fanged politically and left alone.
