BREAKING - Bush Admin Official Convicted on 4 of 5 Felony Counts
Edited on Tue Jun-20-06 01:30 PM by OzarkDem
WASHINGTON Jun 20, 2006 (AP)— A jury found former Bush administration official David Safavian guilty Tuesday of covering up his dealings with Republican influence-peddler Jack Abramoff.

Safavian was convicted on four of five felony counts of lying and obstruction. He had resigned from his White House post last year as the federal government's chief procurement officer.

The trial consumed eight days of testimony about Safavian's assistance to Abramoff regarding government-owned real estate and a weeklong golfing excursion the lobbyist organized to the famed St. Andrews golf course in Scotland and London. Safavian went on the trans-Atlantic trip while he was chief of staff at the General Services Administration, and other participants were Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, two Ney aides and Christian Coalition founder Ralph Reed.

2. Chalk Up Another Point for US!
At this rate, we should have this nest of vipers put behind bars by, oh, I'd say, the 22nd Century!

3. So true
It will make the trials at Nuremburg look small by comparison. Of course, many of the usual cockroaches will scurry into the dark corners and never see justice, but its nice to think we can catch some of them.

5. Its barely registering on Google
Wonder if CNN will report on it ad nauseum, as they always do with any Dem faux scandal.

9. Its worthy of discussion here
Its cause to celebrate - something we need when so many seem focused on defending Bushco these days.

Justice will prevail, even Rove can't always stop it. We seem to focus too much lately on bashing anyone who is trying to hold these crooks accountable, instead of focusing on bringing them to justice.

Celebrate!

10. I know that you broke it first, but I find these threads confusing
It's like the threads are not highlighted or something and people miss it. Even on Tv, they
repeat the morning news. I think it's good to keep emphasizing that justice was done today.

14. Yes, but was it "breaking news" when it happened?
I overslept this morning and must have missed all of the hullaballou.

MSNBC and CNN. Still if this were Cynthia McKinley or Patrick Kennedy it wuold be getting non-stop replays all damn day. Bushco owns MSM.
