Jeremy Paxman to interview Coulter on BBC Newsnight very soon
Newsnight homepage http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/default.stm - live feed, or available fro 24 hours after broadcast. Probably about 2250 BST, at a guess.

Paxman is the toughest interviewer in the UK when he wants to be - God I hope he goes for the throat.

2. Why would the BBC lower their standards to such a level? nt

6. Unfortunately, no - he sneered, made it clear he thinks her book is crap
(what's he's read - the publisher only sent over the 1st chapter), but he didn't get into a proper debate - she just stood by her insults, and he seemed content to let that show want a turd she is.

8. He probably sees her as a soft target.
People like Coulter are consigned to the 'lunatic fringe' in the UK and largely ignored. I'm guessing that Paxman just thought she was just another crazy that he could lightly gnaw on before spitting out.

9. Just watched it.
There's no doubt she's a vile witch but unfortunatley paxman didn't really get the chance to score any points. Wasn't the right format for a proper discussion or debate.

13. For someone who wrote a book...she didn't seem fit to even answer
questions about it...

The fact that the interviewer only gets one chapter...and then to base the interview on that??

She was shown to be a turd..but personally I think he needed to drill after her and ask her what she thought about the creation of the world more...I saw that she wasn't able to answer that question..and she wanted out of that situation before she would be shown to be an even bigger ass.

5. I Hope Paxman Prepares Properly
I hope that Mr. Paxman prepares properly by having facts and sources at hand and the foresight to realize that he'll need to act as if he's interviewing someone practiced in deceit, dishonesty and distraction.

I hope he prepares properly. I purely HATE it when some arrogant and complacent media critter goes up against these--people--thinking that their years of broadcasting are a match for the right-wing propagandists' dirty tricks. Coulter, Limbaugh, Morris, and their ilk have led mainstream US broadcast journalists around by the nose for years; I hope that Paxman's not that stupid.

Even though Newsnight streamed correctly before and after the Coulter piece, during the interview all that was shown was a screen saying "Due to copyright reasons, the video cannot be shown." Was Annie worried that Paxman would shred her, so she didn't want the interview shown at home?"

11. Coulter on Newsnight
I saw the interview on BBC2 last night. You didn't miss much.

I think it's a shame that Coulter is being given publicity, which can only help her sell more books (even if it is out of curiousity).

I would prefer if the British and European media would ignore her completely.

10. Paxman's first question:
"Your publishers only sent me the first chapter of your book to read. Does it get any better?"

12. You can tell that she doesn't believe the drivel in her own books
because she answers questions in such a halting and haphazard way....as if she is shocked that someone would question her about her beliefs.

When asked about her stance on Darwinism...she labels it a "religion"..which it is not..and then won't give the interviewer an answer to the question..."What do you believe?"

Basically she says..."no need to ask me any questions about whether I believe what I have written..."..and he lets her off.

As I have said before...she is laughing all the way to the bank...and one day probably about fifty years from now...the old harpy will write a book about how she duped people and made millions..

14. Chewing up the polymics
Somebody in UK broadcasting has the clue to find out what drives their neocriminal allies.

The more interesting ones to interview, to expose the crime:

Limbaugh
Falwell

And any other mullah they can get on camera.

16. Is The Video Up Anywhere?
Someone linked to the BBC page, but I don't think they're archiving it. I hope someone capped it and gives it to Crooks & Liars. This is good stuff. Paxman tears Coultergeist a 5th asshole. One can only imagine all the headshaking going on in British homes watching how non-human this slimebag is. Kudos to Mr. Paxman for doing what no American corporate mediatype has the stones to do.

17. It should be available for the next 7 hours on the BBC site
They keep the last programme up until the next one is transmitted. But those watching live got a "cannot show for copyright reasons" message for the Coulter segment in the US. It's available in this link, to me in the UK anyway: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/help/3681938.stm - about 13 minutes into the programme.
