Can anyone explain this Freeper mentality (cognitive dissonance?)
I don't soil my computer on that forum but I do read some of the Yahoo forums and see a LOT of them suggesting Iraq needs 'nuking' or some equivalent form of genocide. And yet they all fellate Bush, who claims to be trying to -liberate- the Iraqis (yes, I realize that's bullshit but it's what he says...maybe they think he's lying???) and bring them Democracy.

They seem to be saying "We love GWB but we hate the people he's trying to rescue"....

I don't get it...:eyes:

1. If they weren't so damn stupid,
they wouldn't be Freepers.

At least they rarely surprise us. -JJ

3. Hell no, I can't explain it. That amount of ignorance is utterly foreign.
People like us could never truly understand it. It would be like trying to think like a slug.

4. I get it. My reep neighbors demonstrate that thinking (!)...
They listen to Rush, etc. on the way home from work. This is the extent of their news consumption. 30 minutes after they arrive home, they're drunk (or heading in that direction, fast).

5. Go to yahoo with a user name that sounds remotely Arabic
and find out what the freeper types really think about Iraq and Muslims in general. It isn't pretty.

6. My brother is one of those. Our entire family were born Democrats,
I think he just has to rebel (he is the youngest of 5 children). But to answer your question, he is a total racist. He hates all minorities, but especially Arabs/Muslims. In his defense, he had a nervous breakdown when he was 17, was in a serious car accident in his late 20s, where he suffered brain injury, and he is bi-polar.

Whenever he starts spouting the r-wing-nut talking points, my sisters and I remind each other, You can't make sense out of crazy! I use that a lot when trying to see the wing-nut's side of arguments.

7. that's not real dissonance
they are huge fans of Bush just like some of us are huge fans of Kerry, but many of them are also to the right of Bush just like many of us are to the left of Kerry. They are perhaps pragmatic and realize that Bush sometimes cannot be as fascist or imperialist as they (or he) would like because the librul media would get the bleeding heart sheeple all riled up.

8. Exactly... it's Contradictory.
First, Bush is a hypocrite (among a long, long list of other highly negative terms). Does anyone really think he cares one iota about the IRAQI people (other than their potential value as human slaves)? Obviously, neither he nor any other Republican cares either--though I'm sure there are one or two Fundamentalist Christians who are at least slightly confused thinking they remember hearing something once about caring about other people... but knowing too that deep in their 'hearts', they're revolted by Arabs--a combination of hatred, dislike, impatience, religious intolerance, racism and bigotry, and fear--and like their hero *, they don't honestly care one whit about them.

Now then. Realizing their revulsion, anger and hatred towards these people--we're supposed to believe they honestly support us spending $290 Billion so far (now nearly $6 Billion per month), just to bring these people freedom and "Democracy"? My, my, how magnanimous (and completely out of character)! Absurd proposition actually.

The real truth is much darker. If they could, most Republicans actually would just wish the entire population of IRAQ (and, for that matter, the entire middle east (sans the Israelites)) to the "corn field"! If the next best alternative was, say, a phalanx of neutron bombs... so be it. Typical repubevilican thinking: "They've killed our soldiers and promote terrorism (which cost us 9/11), and we were just there to help them! They deserve to die, all of 'em! They're heathen infidel Allah followers and are damned to Hell anyway!"...

Ugh, I've had enough. We all know our government (and most Republicans) just want easy access to gigantic amounts of cheap oil; to ensure our continued dominance of the world and keep our lifestyles easy.

Of course, all this just considers matters on one level. Neither these typical Republicans, nor, for that matter, their President are really in charge here. It's some combination of deviant neocons, unidentified ultra-wealthy individuals as a group, and their Corporations that are running the show. Informal but absolute world domination is their goal, obscene profits are their approach. Beyond that, it's anybody's guess as to what they want.

9. It's like a Rubrik's Cube with one color missing on one side...
In other world, a totally insoluable puzzle.

The closest I can come to figuring out that mentality is that they only hear one-half of what Bush says. They hear the tough-guy vigilante side. The rest goes in one ear and out the other.

10. After 2 weeks I gave up on my
58 year old, double MIT, male cousin. They are just not worth the time. They have no interest in listening, learning or seeing anything beyond the Bushit they are fed. They represent the 25% of bushbots that we will never reach. In the last 3 weeks petitioning, I spoke to TWO woman that voted for * TWICE and have FUMES coming out of their ears. They now know they were lied to. Concentrate on the PURPLE woman...they are easier to reach than men.

11. They hate 'swarthy' people, because Deir Leader tells them to.
Not directly of course, but with hints and fictional stories. It's all part of the New Final Solution; the BFEE loves the idea of a master race...just as long as their the masters! :(

12. The "Texas Shit Sandwich" syndrome
as explained by Tom Tomorrow . . . these people are not stupid, they would watch Rush excrete something right in front of them, and they'd choke it down with a smile to try to convince you that it was vanilla ice cream . . . if it would be able to be used to say that Democrats are unpatriotic . . .

13. W says Islam is a religion of peace
While Coulter, Rush, Savage, et al talk about it as if it's the religion of the devil.

Yet, they have no problem with their president for his contrary views. Amazing lack of logic and critical thinking skills.
