As per Ken Mellman on Hardball just now.
Al Qaeda is looking to take over the world. They want to create a world empire. That the reason we pulled out of Veitnam is because Ho Chi Mihn was not looking to create a global empire... And that is why we need to stay in Iraq is that Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda is looking to create a global empire.

Anyone else see this? Am I missing something?

3. Do these people realize they are speaking to a global audience?
I can see spouting that kind of nonsense at a prayer breakfast in Bugfuck, Alabama, but this kind of nonsense is an on-the-record statement that will be repeated literally around the world. If osama bin laden is still alive, he's dying of laughter right about now.

8. Well he said that is the reason we pulled out of Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh did not want to start a global empire, so we were free to pull out of Vietnam. But with Iraq we have to stop the global empire building that Al Qaeda has planned.

6. so, it was ok for Nixon to cut and run then?
Or was that Ford? Or was it Ford following Nixon's plan. I was like 8 when it happened, so I was a bit too young.

And, whoever is in Iraq wants to rule the world...(didn't Franken say 93% of the insurgency there was Iraqi & not foreign, i.e., Al Qaeda)

That is political babytalk and the GOP is only too happy to lower itself to the occasion.

12. Fact Check Time -- He lied like a rug by saying that
The whole reason we went into Vietnam is because it was supposedly part of the World Wide Communist Conspiracy. Remember the Domino Theory Ken?

"If we didn't fight the Commies over there, we'll have to fight them here." Remember that one Ken? Sound vaguely familiar?

It was never claimed that Viet Nam was just a civil war, or that Ho Chi Minh was just a warlord with local ambitions.

13. yeah, I noticed his conflation....
....where the reason we can't pull out of Iraq is because some other people want to create a world-wide empire. Ridiculous. May Karma come soon to that man.

15. He was also asked about the Rs wanting Libby pardoned
to clear the air before the elections. Dodged that one. You can bet that discussion is going on and if that happens, I hope the Ds have enough sense to rub the Rs noses in that stinking heap of doodoo.

17. If he pardons Libby to help the political processes.
Then he needs to be impeached for interfering in a federal investigation.

16. Closet Case...
just like so many others written about here. what hypocrisy - what projection and lies! The worst people in the history of the executive branch - makes Nixon's folk look positively rational and sane. I know - I lived thru that era.

This is really beyond horrendous, approaching..dare I say it...APOCALYPTIC.
