I’ve had it with all this posturing about Korea’s nuclear bomb and Iran’s attempt to get one. Fuck it I say, give every mother’s son a nuke. Give ‘em a great big one. Issue one to every third world country that wants one. Hell, give ‘em ten if they want that many. We’ve got thousands.
There is only one provocation that can justify the use of nuclear weapons and that is the use of a nuclear weapon. Once that door is open every damn thing in the closet is going to fall out.
The prospect of Mutually Assured Destruction kept the US and the USSR apart for 50 years. What the hell is wrong with Unilaterally Assured Destruction? It’s the old “hit me with a stick I’ll cut you with a knife, cut me with a knife I’ll shoot you with a gun” gambit. Only we’ve got ALL the guns.
Teddy Roosevelt said speak softly and carry a big stick. I say go ahead, give ‘em a stick so goddam big they don’t dare pick it up.
