"Divided We Stand, United We Fall"
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 08:36 AM by kentuck
Shouldn't that be the motto of the Republican Party?

Is there any issue that they have not tried to divide the people with? It's really sick. But, that is their present strategy for the November election. Divide and conquer. If they can divide the nation into "liberals vs conservatives", they will be content. They will then have a chance to maintain power. I would not bet against them. Because I do not have a lot of faith in the American people at this moment in history.

1. It would be nice if the Dems could preempt the gays-guns-god meme.
Maybe call it out as a distraction tactic *before* the GOP starts it up again, pointing out how these issues divide the country and keep us on the road to economic and foreign policy disasters.

2. The problem is that the country isn't all that divided on real,
life, death, and ruin issues; majorities are against the occupation of Iraq, against going to war with Iran, for some type of universal health coverage and against the continued erosion of our Constitutional rights. But, for some reason, a large number of people are willing to be led to let issues of civil and individual rights (i.e. abortion, equal rights, immigration) take precedence over illegal wars, the destruction of the US middle class, the destruction of the economy, the destruction of the Constitution, government crimes and corruption - the utter destruction of our country. Why that would be so is for someone wiser than me to say...

4. You're exactly right!
We need to save the country from becoming the fourth reich, or ALL is lost!

3. Perfectly worded to summarize their divide and conquer strategy!
I wish all the Dem talking heads would call bs when they see it happening. Like on Hardball - "I see Chris that this is the twelvth show you've devoted to gay marriage. I think you might want to take a look at some of the more pressing issues you're not discussing: like war, torture, America's image in the world, corruption, malfeasance, etc. But since you've asked, I am FOR gay unions, however you want to describe them because I see it as a civil rights matter. It doesn't threaten the insitution of marriage and it doesn't throw open the door to polygamy or beastiality. Now, let's talk about . . .
