People swept off streets in bazaar 'Bush Zone'

Bush security leaves Austrians shaking their heads

snip>

In the so-called 'Bush Zone,' along the president's route to his conference site with entire streets and squares closed, police were demanding that businesses and physicians hand over lists of their clients and patients Wednesday morning.

Before the convoy flashed by, police shoved passers-by into shops on the Ring Road and quickly emptied the pavements. Several police were seen surrounding a sole women left outside.

snip>

On Wednesday morning helicopters circled over the city centre. In Bush's 50-vehicle convoy was a special car scanning frequencies to stop possible remote-control detonation of bombs by radio or mobile phone.

Interior Ministry spokesman Rudolf Gollia was at pains to assure sceptical questioners that the mysterious car would not tap phone calls. That could only be done by order of a judge, he pointed out.

snip>

Already after his arrival Tuesday evening, there were half-amused reactions to a report - in the teletext service of ORF television - that all the president's food had been specially flown in and chemically tested, and even his toilet paper came from the US base at Ramstein in Germany.

1. Such a tiny, little, pathetic, scared man-boy
A perfect metaphor for the 30% of Muhrkins who still support this walking pile of excrement.

(Sorry, that wasn't a very nice thing for me to say about excrement.)

15. It is difficult to "do something" when all of the main control
buttons are owned by the criminal administration. Our last hope is the November election and that is under grave jeopardy due to voting scams perfected by the Republicans.

2. I never want a Conservative tell me about fiscal responsibility again.
We have no money for education, transportation, health care and science. Yet we have a 50 car caravan to a one-day appearance at a conference. What a total waste of taxpayer money.

8. It's more of a waste of Austrians' tax money
These kind of arrangements can cost millions of dollars, not to mention the disruption of businesses and inconveniencing thousands in their daily lives. And the host country usually pays the bulk of the cost.

I saw that when the Chimp came here to Ottawa.

10. I'm going to guess that we flew enough people over there to
fill the 50+ cars, they are staying in upscale hotel rooms, and eating at reknowned restaurants. Austria doesn't pay for that. Plus, I'm going to guess that we flew most of the vehicles over there too!

When this guy flies, its money be damned. Full speed ahead.

13. Think of the billions and billions of dollars that his ridiculously
frequent photo-ops have cost us.

All those trips to the Gulf coast post-Katrina, all the fundraisers, etc, etc.

Your tax dollars at work.

Sounds like something out of a Cecil B. DeMille film. What a spectacle this man is. Does he bring music as well?

12. stunning contrast, isn't it?
And the irony is, all the MSM pundits who swoon and drool over what they perceive is Bush's "manliness," have nothing but contempt for Clinton, who was man enough to face crowds without a small army, or go toe-to-toe with a dissenter when he encountered one.

This little Bush weasel is a scared little momma's boy who needs all the protection OUR money can buy him, yet the Joe Klein's and Chris Matthews' of the world can't contain their bizarre man-crush on him.

16. Bush's personal fears aren't what is driving the intense security.
It's the fact that Bush is the most destructive and dangerous man alive. Everyone, including his own
own security force is well aware of that.

14. What is it that leads the security forces to believe that such intense
measures are necessary? We all know the answer, of course. But, the fact that his own security people know it as well clearly shows that as least some part of the Bush administration is still in
touch with reality. They are not being paranoid. Bush truly is at great risk at all times when he is in public.

17. It's Bush's* own fault that he is almost universally despised.
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 12:00 PM by CottonBear
I hope he's got lots of money stashed away. He'll only get Secret Service protection for 10 years after leaving office (assuming that he does leave office...) It's going to cost a lot for private security to match the level of security that he has now. He'll probably have to hole up in his house and drink 24-7 for the rest of his sorry life.

edit: sp.

18. Don't forget that Bush is , to some degree, the puppet of other
interest groups. He personally absorbs the hatred from people who have been harmed by the administrations terrible policies, many of which did not originate in Bush's mind. I'm not defending him, just pointing out that he is only part of the source of evil deeds.

19. True.
However, he did choose to run for office and set himself up to be the world's most hated man. He choose to associate with certain people and corporations and back certain policies. I agree that he isn't the brain behind the policies and actions but he is the public face and, thus, it is he who deserves all the contempt and hatred.

21. I don't think that we are in disagreement here. However, I think
he was chosen to run and that he agreed with that. The fact still remains that he is probably the most dangerous and destructive person alive on the planet. That ought to warrent a lot of hatred and does.

Rave on. We are most definitely on the same page and team.

23. You're right: he was chosen to run.
I'm sure that he never would have chosen to run. Hell, he was a complete and total failure (still is) until his GOP friends installed him as TX governor. I suppose if he hadn't been chosen to run for governor, he would have drunk himself to death by now.

I think that they didn't run Jeb for president because of his wife Columba. They view her as a liability unlike the Prozaxed and botoxed Laura.

22. he won't even have a marker on his grave
They'll have to bury him in an unknown spot, because so many people are lining up to piss on his grave that the location would become a swamp.
