The latest gimmick by Republicans to hide from the problems they created in Iraq is to accuse Democrats of being 'defeatests' with the ever-so-charming and easy to remember punch line: cut and run.
Step #1: See the Frame
This attack is not a new invention. Most is Republican PR rhetoric is little more than reheated political leftovers. As a debate tactic, 'cut and run' is as fresh as the turkey and stuffing lost in the back of the freezer. But, it still tastes good to some of the desperate followers of the cult of Bush, and it has Democrats nervous. 'Cut and run' is a snow job, but how does it work? Why is it so annoying? And what can Americans who actually care about national security and the future of the country say instead?

Step #2: 'This Is How You Build A Better Terrorist'
On September 11, 2001 Al Qaeda was a deadly terrorist organization based in Afghanistan.
As of today, Al Qaeda is a larger, smarter terrorist organization that controls everyday life in Iraq.
There have been elections. There have been press conferences. There has even been a visit from President Bush. But Iraq is not a country controlled by government or elected officials. Iraq is a country controlled by members of Al Qaeda who are able to kidnap anyone they want, murder anyone they want, plant bombs anywhere they want, blow up U.S. military vehicles whenever and wherever they want.
