Did you notice the frequent use of the word "families" and "american families" among all the senators? This... as opposed to "murkin citizens" and "THE people"? Yes... these were women talking.

An email I got from the Women's Vote Center with the announcement of the Larry King appearance:

As the nine Democratic women in the U.S. Senate, my colleagues and I believe that it is time for a change in Washington: change in agenda, change in tone, and change in direction. Sure, you hear her sound bytes, but I don't recall her sitting on a panel and being interviewed by someone like King, or Matthews, or anybody like that. Is it just me, or does she not usually appear on shows like this? Maybe I just miss her appearances...

Seriously, they didn't even make an effort to come up with a good health care agenda. Frankly, I'm surprised.

I'm almost in tears watching this :cries: I don't care about the stance some of them are taking its a one of a kind show.

I can't recall a time when women were assembled like this and allowed to express their concerns and hopes and plans. As has been said, whether I agree or disagree with anything being said or some particular action or inaction of any one of these women...this is historic - and we need more of it.

Sure as hell never thought I'd applaud Larry King for anything.

That often the best man for a job is . . . a woman, of course. Any of them, even Hillary, would make a better president than any Repug male (or female, for that matter).

Looks like the lobbyists wrote it for them. I've seen the Repugs come up with better policies and that's not saying much.

I was proud of all of them. Could this be the year of the women taking control of the right winged agenda and slappin it upside its head? Let's hope the Dems seize the chance to get the women votes in the 2006 election.

At least once, the point was made about the congress wasting precious time on issues of far lesser importance than the issues on their "check list". These were women talking... about time management, and about wasting time, and about setting priorities, about families, and about the simple checklists needed to get stuff done. Women listening understood what they were saying. I certainly heard them clearly. I am a woman. The male brain has still not evolved to an understanding of such important things.
