Profiles in Courage in Our Time

I was going through my books today, when I found Profiles in Courage in Our Time. I had read it when it came out and at the time I know two or three people in it. So now flipping through it I know most of them. Then a came to one chapter and dropped the book in shock. The profile was on Sens. John McCain and Russ Feingold. I couldn't believe Russ was in there (it was for the campaign finance reform bill). When I read it a few years ago, I had know idea who Russ was nor did I care that much. And now Russ is my favorite Senator and my 1st choice for President. How things change in a few years.

1. Actually, that is my LEAST favorite accomplishment of Russ's.

Clean Money, Clean Elections was the other bill being debated in 1997, and Russ sided with McCain over Kerry and Wellstone's public financing bill.

Feingold believes in public financing now, but it would have been more helpful to believe in it enough to fight for it then.
