Sundance Award winning film A LION IN THE HOUSE on PBS now.
Part One on now or later tonight on the West Coast I think.

<http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/lioninthehouse/index.htm>

A LION IN THE HOUSE follows the stories of five exceptional children and their families as they battle pediatric cancer. From the trauma of diagnosis to the physical toll of treatment, this series documents the stresses that can tear a family apart as well as the courage of children facing the possibility of death with honesty, dignity and humor. As the film compresses six years into one narrative, it puts viewers in the shoes of parents, physicians, nurses, siblings, grandparents and social workers who struggle to defeat an indiscriminate and predatory disease.

They say it's a great film, but I don't know if I can handle anymore sadness these days. I'm going to try to watch it though.

2. I too
am going to have to wait to see this. I'm physically exhausted from a hectic schedule today - and this damned * co has pretty much depleted my emotional stores. First time in my life when my government has caused me such deep distress that I have to dole out my energies to protect my sanity. Sad.

5. Oh, it was a very difficult film to watch...
...several of the kids died.

One you pretty much expected, but the other two, I wasn't expecting.

Talk about "reality TV." :-(

6. it is very difficult to watch
i always hear about how some films might be hard because of the blood, violence etc. but none of that ever hit me as much as this film did.

7. Did you get the feeling that they left the story of the last two kids...
...early, before we actually knew what would happen to them?

I'm thinking they did, because they didn't think the audience (and maybe even the film makers) could take anymore death.

8. yeah, i can see that
seeing them die one after the other was really tough.

the kids seemed very mature.going through what they do with Cancer probably forces them to grow up mentally in ways most kids couldn't.
