Al Gore's documentary wins special award
LOS ANGELES - The Al Gore documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" will receive a rare recognition from the Humanitas Prize, which honors screenwriting that helps "liberate, enrich and unify society."

"An Inconvenient Truth," which chronicles Gore's quest to draw attention to global warming, will receive the organization's first Special Award in over 10 years, president Frank Desiderio announced Wednesday.

"It's a very important film," he said in a statement. "We want to shine a light on it."

The documentary's director, Davis Guggenheim, said he was "thrilled" with the recognition, adding that Humanitas "supports the achievements and sacrifices of filmmakers trying to change the world."

1. First time in 10 years? Wow, impressive
I'd like to see what other films got this kind of rating.

3. So would I. How would we find that out? Very interesting.
If it weren't so late right now, I do it immediately. Bookmarking for morning coffee.

I can't find the news about Gore's film, but I've only done a quick search (or else they haven't updated the site).

8. excellent.... thanks...
getting sleepy now...lol.. will read up in the a.m.

by the way... did you see the thread for AT&T "owning your identity"... by this Friday? They reserved their right to change their terms and so now they did. Sorry I lost the link to the thread...

Not a good bedtime story, for sure...might want to bkmark it yourself for an earlier time. You might want to sit down while you read also.

5. Great news.
I bought the book today, but haven't read it yet (too busy watching Kerry kick ass on the Senate floor).
Interesting factoid, An Inconvenient Truth is "...the first book produced to offset 100% of the CO2 emissions generated from the production activities with renewable energy."
It looks really good. Tons of photos.

Going to see the movie this weekend. Al rocks.

7. my daughter and i just got back from the movie
very informative, and sobering. Packed with interesting and easy to understand information for all age groups.

go, take your friends, your family, a stranger in front of the theatre. You won't be disappointed.

it hurts to watch my president so eloquently speak for the hour plus and realize the most i've been able to stomach listening to *moron is maybe several minutes tops without some smirk, faux pas, bushism, etc. ruining it completely.

what could have been.
