Thank you letter to a Republican Senator (R-GA)
Dear Senator Isakson,
I applaud you for the gallantry you showed yesterday by voting against that foolish minimum wage proposal. I, like you quite surely, have grown wearisome of all the whining from the little people. It just seems that $5.15 an hour is exceedingly sufficient to me—after all there are many people (mostly degenerate races) all over the world who don’t make that in an entire week. These people are simply spoiled. I firmly believe that if all the so called “working people” had merely invested there money in the right way then they wouldn’t have anything to blubber over.
Just the other day I had an encounter with a poor person, a women, at a filling station. She had the audacity to ask if I had any spare change, and do you know what I told her? I told her she should have invested her money in B.P. or Kellogg, Brown and Root, Halliburton, Bechtel, Fluor, or Chevron, for God’s sake. After all we are at war, and the financial opportunities are simply to good to be true. What was her response? This wretched women stood there with her ugly baby on her hip and let loose a string of obscenities that would make your toes curl. You plainly can’t give these people any advice or direction. Don’t bother trying.
Anyway, I just wanted to pat your back for a job well done, and let you know how appreciated you are here on the right side of town.

Sincerely,
Vexatious Ape

6. We've got Frist here in TN...
Hide your cats and if you need a diagnosis, all you gotta do is send him a videotape.

8. Isakson is bad
but our other Senator is worse. Saxby Chamblis, a true Christian fascist.

15. I wrote to Frist last year
about my bad back, asking if he would give me advice if I sent him a videotape. I also told him that, in my opinion, he was missing out on a golden opportunity if he didn't set up a website inviting people to send their own videos in for his medical opinion - why, just think of the money he could make there, without the necessity of seeing patients in the flesh or even leaving his own house. What an untapped market!

Sen. Frist did not respond to my request or comment on my business suggestion. Do you think it's because I don't live in Tennessee?

22. How do you cope with
being a liberal in McDonough? I lived in Jackson for a few years before moving to England and worked as a paralegal in McDonough. I hated it and felt dreadfully alone because of my political views. I spent all my spare time either in Atlanta or (if I couldn't go there) at the gym or at Jackson Lake, where I wouldn't have to listen to wingnuts. I was considered a little bit eccentric because I didn't fit in with the locals.

19. You're lucky...I got a reply
I emailed him about the whole Terri Schiavo fiasco and expressed my dismay and my anger. I got back a letter filled with vile RW talking points. It took a week to air out the house afterwards.

Be glad.

27. They don't personally read everything....
with the emergence of email it would be impossible. Frist never replies to anything I send except by maybe an off-topic form letter weeks after they vote.
My rep Bart Gordon does an excellent job of correspondence on exactly the situation I write about, but he also knows I'm county party leadership.

29. I never expected that Frist himself would read it,
but in the wake of the Schiavo mess it sure felt good to vent. Even if my e-mail was just read by an aide, I like to think I made my point with somebody.

23. Oy! Frist creeps me out. He looks like an evil undertaker.
I've got wacky wingnuts to the north, south, east and west of GA. Just last night, Jeff Sessions of AL was blathering away on CSPAN. The progressive South is no more. :(

If you had given money she probably would have spent it on something useless, like food or health care for her child. (sarcasm)

Serious note: Great letter.

12. Oh, I'm sure my letters keep their staff busy! Not the Sen. though!
I don't care. I'm going to keep calling and emailing them. They already know me by name! I actually think it funny when they say Oh hello Carole!

You can't imagine how many people NEVER think to contact their Sens or reps! When people tell me about problems they're haveing, I ask "Did you call your Sens and Rep?"

The answer is almost always...NO! I never thought of that!

I'm not going to stop though! I'm going to bust my a** to make sure these AH's do not get reelected!!!!!!!!!!!!!

21. I just looked at your profile
and see that you live in Flowery Branch! Last year I received one of those awful RW mass e-mails from my stepmother, so I hit "reply all" and debunked everything in it. A couple of days later I got a message from someone that said "Who are you? Do I know you?". Turned out she was one of the recipients of my debunking e-mail, and she also lives in Flowery Branch.

We subsequently had a flurry of e-mails back and forth. This woman was a Republican kool-aid drinker, not because she's a vicious partisan like the freepers, but because it's all she's ever known. She trusted FOX and her pastor and other people who told her lies because no one ever told her anything different and she was an unquestioning sort. What was remarkable was that she was prepared to read the things I sent her and digest the information. I don't know if I was able to persuade her to come into the light or if she will ever vote for a Democrat, but I do know I made her think for herself, and she thanked me for it.

I went to high school in Gwinnett County so I know first-hand what red areas Gwinnett and Hall Counties are (in fact, the entire NE section of GA, apart from Athens). Keep on fighting the good fight!

13. Great blog!!

I have to bring this to the attention of my Christian friends.

"“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth.”

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.”

“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.”

Does this sound familiar to you? Jesus sounds like a pretty decent guy, but he doesn’t sound all that much like a Republican."

"Since his course of action in Iraq is such a disaster, why does he choose to, “stay the course”? Let’s put it this way; let’s say you where driving from Atlanta to Orlando and you took a wrong turn and started heading North on I 75 instead of South; would you stay the course?"

16. Some staffer read that and put a check in the "approve" column.
Repugnantones aren't known for their sense of irony. Nicely crafted letter, though.

26. I'll say one thing, that poor woman you described wasn't a Christian
and I think that's just sad.

No wonder she is asking for spare change.

She hasn't accepted and embraced Jesus like we have.
