Feingold calls Iraq war 'fruitless'

Washington - Sen. Russ Feingold on Wednesday condemned the war in Iraq as "fruitless" and warned the United States was heading in the direction of 10,000 casualties.

The Wisconsin Democrat spoke on the eve of today's vote on his measure to begin redeploying troops and have most out by July 1, 2007.

Feingold and Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts said Monday they want to begin redeploying the 130,000 troops immediately. They would keep only critical forces in Iraq for specified missions and an over-the-horizon force for the war on terror and for regional security.

The measure drew sharp criticism from Republicans and a cool reception from most Democrats.

In other words they want 10,000 dead. Its as simple as that. Would some lurker jump in here and explain why I am wrong.
