Bush gives speech in Hungary amidst deafening SILENCE!......LOL
Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 10:10 AM by glarius
His chimpiness just spoke before an audience in Hungary and through the whole speech there was not one moment of applause! At the end, as he skulked off stage like a whipped cur, there was a smattering of polite applause....Everytime he speaks before a crowd that is not hand picked he BOMBS.....I LOVE IT!

P.S...My only reason for posting this is that more and more I enjoy his embarrassing moments. NO ONE DESERVES THEM MORE!

9. You know he's that dumb, and, yes, he did
He said the Iraqis should draw inspiration from the Hungarian resistance. Does he have any idea what he's saying? We're the occupiers, the guys with the tanks in someone else's country.

5. Did you hear what the dimwit said - even YOU would agree with Bush
He basically said that the Hungarian revolt against Sovient oppression should be inspiration for Iraq.

Dumbass - that's pretty much what's happening instead you can substitute Iraq for Hungary and the US for Soviet Russia

17. It is the curse of the incurious
that they will say anything that seems plausible to them and is popular.

It leads to moments of cosmic stupidity like the idea that in the Hungarian analogy we are anything but the Soviets.
Our 'freedom' here in America is a catastrophic success, and we go around believing we are still living in the Eisenhower years.

He and his minions launch a war on Iraq and destroy the infrastructure and now they have the absolute nerve to lecture the rest of the world on their "responsibility" to make things better. UNBELIEVABLE!

13. Current Ruling Party Is The Partty That Took Over After Uprising Squelched
Ferenc Gyurcsány (help·info) (pronounced <ˈfɛrɛnts ˈɟurtʃaːɲ>) (born June 4, 1961) is the Prime Minister of Hungary. He was nominated to take that position on the August 25, 2004 by his party, the Hungarian Socialist Party, after Péter Medgyessy had resigned due to a conflict with the coalition partner. Gyurcsány was elected to be Prime Minister on the September 29, 2004 with a parliamentary vote (197 yes votes, 12 no votes, and the greatest opposition party in Parliament not voting). He led the coalition to victory in the parliamentary elections in 2006, therefore his role being the Prime Minister was secured.

cut

He became Prime Minister in 2006, with his socialist party winning a second term in office, taking 210 of the available 386 parliamentary seats (including the seats of its coalition party SZDSZ), becoming the first government to be re-elected since 1990.

cut

Gyurcsány has been tight-lipped on his religious affiliation, leading many to assume that he is an Atheist.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferenc_Gyurcs%C3%A1ny

Gyurcsany is a member of the Hungarian Socialist Party

The Hungarian Socialist Party (Hungarian: Magyar Szocialista Párt, MSZP) is a socialist party in Hungary. It is the part-successor of the communist Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party (or MSZMP), which ruled Hungary between 1956 and 1989. The decision to declare the party a successor of the MSZMP was controversial, and still haunts the MSZP. In particular, some of the past communist elite managed to live on and keep political influence in today's MSZP. The party is not to be confused with the Workers' Party, a marginal party of hardline Communists, the other successor.

On economic issues, the Socialists are centrist, balancing between mostly liberal free market policies and a socialistic rhetoric. The party differentiates itself from its conservative opponents mainly by its rejection of nationalism, which it often tries to pin on its opponents. The party (together with its coalition partner) campaigned against extending Hungarian citizenship to ethnic Hungarians living in neighbouring countries in the December 5, 2004 referendum. Although claiming victory against the yes side, the party has been pressured to take steps towards reconciliation with Hungarian minorities abroad.

Although it is respected internationally (it is a member of the Socialist International and the Party of European Socialists, as well as holding a chairmanship and several vice-chairmanships in the committees of the European Parliament), the party's democratic credentials and its ability to shed its past Communist cadres are questioned by Hungarian opponents. Internally, the party has a diversity of opinions, containing rival groups, e.g. both for and against Ferenc Gyurcsány, contrasted to Fidesz, where there is no doubt about Viktor Orbán's leadership. Current leaders of MSZP are contrasting today's MSZP to the anti-market, anti-liberal ideology of Fidesz.
. . . .
At the 2006 elections, it gained with 43.2 % of the list votes 190 representatives out of 386 in the Parliament and has retained the coalition government from the previous term. In earlier elections, The MSZP polled 10.89% (1990), 32.98% (1994), 32.92% (1998) and 42.05% (2002).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_Socialist_Party

Maybe Hungarian politics is just a little too complicated for Bush, but, in actual fact, the commemmoration of the Hungarian uprising might be an awkward topic in a country that has just elected the party that took over after that uprising was pretty much squelched. What do you think?

16. I saw part of it on Faux News. I checked out CNN & CNN HN
and they were not broadcastig it at the time although they may have shown parts of it.

It was a doozy. The city looked beautiful behind Chimpy but it was, like where ever he goes abroad, completely void of human life.

When George H W Bush urged the Iraqis to revolt against Saddam, then refused to back them up when they did--resulting in their brutal suppression by Saddam (especially the Kurds and the so-called Marsh Arabs). The right-wing did the same thing during the Cold War--urged the eastern european states to resist Soviet occupation, but when the Hungarians revolted the Eisenhower adminstration and NATO did nothing. Long memories in some parts of the world.

I think he looks like he's on the brink of a nervous breakdown. He can't stand it when his (you'll pardon the expression) "charm" doesn't work and he's not loved.
