Republican attack on the Voter Rights Act must be shown to the public
This is the single most important issue going into the midterms.

Failure to renew the voting rights act is a slap in the face to minority voters.

We must push this issue to the forefront. It's time to show any minority voters who are on the fence that Republicans don't even want their vote, let alone want their vote to count.

4. We have to mention it
If we email our local news, as many national outlets as we can, and if we post and pass on all the blog stories we find on it, it will see the light of day.

2. It'll pass...
Repukes will throw a stink like they usually do on anything that makes sense and protects Americans.

But this they have to vote for. If they don't, every dem across the country won't let them forget it. It would be comparable to giving MLK the finger.

Given how much animosity there is at the repukes right now, they can't afford having something like this thrown in their faces. It's political suicide.

3. I wouldn't be so sure
They know that very few minority voters will vote repug in the coming election.

Many Repubs see this as a safety net. They are desperate cornered animals and are capable of anything.

7. Remember the civil rights movement?
My mother and grandmother watched how people were treated on TV. They told me how inhuman it was.

Everything I've ever read about it has shown that the public all across the nation were horrified by it.

If the repukes refuse to renew it, these images will be shown again...along with MLK's 'I Have A Dream' speech.

Also, remember that Raygun had it extended for 25 years and every time this was up for a vote, it was always bipartisan. I really don't believe the repukes want to mess with this no matter the fuss they're making now.

8. just the fact that they are attacking it is enough
to help us win this election. Republicans have lost almost all black voters, they are losing almost all Latino voters.

Don't forget that 40% of Latinos voted for Bush in 2004.

Now, the Repubs are not only trying to send their mothers and fathers home, they are trying to take their vote too.

This opportunity is too good to pass up. Democrats must seal the deal with minority voters. Bringing them solidly to the party will ensure victory for years to come.

9. Their attacking it is unconscionable
What's surprising about this is they're doing it in an election year when they least afford it. I guess it's proof of not just how racist these people are, but also the level of stupidity.

6. It's not even on the news......
They are doing it right now. The only way "democrats" can stop it is by getting the info. So that's what we need to do.

Or, we can lie down and die like all pessimistic defeatists do.

13. keep making those calls,
sending those emails and signing those petitions. Do something everyday. I love to call the white house. They have no caller id system, so I am from many states. Since I have blocked my number, I also call congresscritters and discuss issues that affect OUR state.

so yeah, no rolling over and becoming a dust bunny.

11. The Minneapolis Star Tribune had a story on it today titled
"House Leaders Cancel Vote on Renewing Voting Rights Act". The first paragraph made it clear it was Republicans doing it.

12. Minneapolis Star Tribune, cool
That sounds like a pretty main stream paper to me.

Perhaps it's not wasted effort to try and get other main stream outlets to cover the story.
