i hate oil men.

just saw the movie Syriana last night. very hard to follow. i didn't like oil men before, but now i really despise them.

Both my parents were in the oil business for their entire lives, and the
oil people I knew growing up (mostly geologist and geophysicist) were
pretty good people. Most of the geologist had come from the oil patch
starting out on the rigs and working their way up. Most worked their
way thru college doing manual, back-breaking labor. They were, literally, a two-fisted, hard drinking bunch. And yes, most were
Republicans.....but....I can't cont the times my mom would here
of someone in nees of medical help the cost of which were the beyond
their families means. Mom would sit down with her roldex, get on the phone, and raise 10K, 20K, 30K to help these families in a matter of
a couple hours or so. Please don't paint with such a broad brush.
Most oil people ARE NOT like J.R. Ewing, and most laughed at the
caricuture....

for mobil oil for about 1-1/2 years. we were constantly shown films about how hard the oil men on the rigs work. that was in '78.

On Edit: just before i started work at mobil (i was already hired, but had not started yet) someone put a bomb in the building. i think the group was FLAM or something like that. it had to do with drilling in puerto rico. my first few months there, we were constantly being evacuated because of bonb scares. i remember thinking to myself -- i have nothing to do with politics -- i'm just trying to make a living.

BTW. the man who was killed didn't even work for Mobil. he worked in a travel agency on the main floor.

and the execs at exxon, etc.

Especially when you have 39 oil producing states and thousands of independent operators.

against owners of gas stations or people that work for oil companies.

AGAIN. IT's THE BIG GUYS -- THE EXECUTIVES MAKING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MILLIONS A YEAR.

i don't even consider the little guy who runs a gas station or works in an office an "oil man". i didn't consider myself an oil woman when i worked for mobil.

on edit: i just looked at your bio and saw that you hunt. well i can tell you that i don't like people who hunt. you kill innocent animals and don't give me the crap about how the deer will starve.

Who the hell said anything about gas stations? I'm talking independently owned and operated oil producers You say you hate oil men, but you don't have a clue what an oil man is. There are thousands of oil company's in the US, theres over 600 just in the west TX area. Most everyone of them would laugh at you for calling the big Major's top brass, Oil Men.

Thats fine with me, i have the same problem with people who make stupid fucking statements about subjects they have no knowledge of.

send them to kill or be killed in the name of greed.

lots of good people out there in the oil patch.
