WASHINGTON, D.C. (2006-06-19) Military officials say in the past several months that at least 11 soldiers and three Marines have committed suicide in Iraq. Eighty-eight active duty soldiers killed themselves in 2005, a number that was up 13 percent from 2003 and more than 70 percent from 2001.

Paul Rieckhoff, executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, calls the figures alarming. And says an overstretched military and repeat tours of duty are taking a toll on soldiers.

RIECKHOFF: The DOD has made changes in response to military suicides. Soldiers are screened for mental health issues before deployment and when they come home. In January, the Pentagon began using a third screening - this one six months after soldiers' return from combat.

Overall, suicides in the military are relatively rare says Dr. David Tornberg, a deputy assistant secretary of defense and chief medical officer of the military's TriCare health program.

DOD is sending troops back to Iraq with mental problems putting them on Anti-Depressants Anti-Anxiety meds. Now if you know about PTSD those are the wrong meds to hand out like candy.First it slows your reaction time down and can get you killed or wounded.Second it explains why kids are taken their own life's. Can you say experimentation on our kids

When these kids come home they are given what we call the two week dance.They go to the VA to start their claims .They see a doc told to come back in two weeks it a whole new doc starts all over again.We have about 20,000 of these kids waiting to be treated for PTSD. Here is some reason they are denied we lost your records,we need a buddy letter,we have to see if there is a report of what you saw that just some of the reasons. One out of Four of these kids have PTSD redeploy men and women this many times and their minds will be affected big time.Your right they claim to support the troops that pure bull ----
