I was almost beaten today by another "liberal" over a discussion about Socrates and his relavance today. That is the division that the right wing seeks.

The young man I was playing cribbage with attacked me over words and it shocked me.

We must stop killing each other and start loving one another.

No, no, no, no. Way too late for that. Nope, too much has gone on. I will not be satisfied until every single one of these pigs is brought out and humbled. They should live in shame and that's where I want to see them.

think about it. wont be the wrath that cause shame, will be the love that will bring them to their knees. and it doesnt mean allowing them getting away with the immoral either. it means calling them on everything, but not in hate.

Yes, it is right to hate the Bush Cabal and what they have done to the world. Yes, it is right to be angry at them. But to generalize that hate and apply it to an entire group of misguided idiots only turns you into them.

If we are ever to move on and start to clean up the mess we're in, we are going to have start practicing a lot of forgiveness. That does not mean the Bush Cabal shouldn't be brought to justice, preferably at the Hague, but it does mean welcoming recovering Bushbots.

we have really turned our back on that once since bushcos got in. first bushcos and the party followed along about 2002.... then i noticed about 2005 us dems are right in it too. it has been fed to all of us so consistantly for such a period too many are sucked into the worldof non tolerance of anything and anyone

Its so powerful, really. Its so easy to get things done with love, its just hard to love sometimes. But when you have love, you can move mountains...Everybody responds to authentic love, even the biggest RWer you can think of.

patriotic rage. People need to realize they deserve better, and then demand it. They need to decide that they're not going to be ruled by a tiny minority of super wealthy crooks and their religiously insane supporters. They need to recognize their real enemies, and marginalize those people but good.

of greed and corruption and hate and fear that they do not recognise any love other than self-love. They are lost souls, devoid of what we call a conscience. Whatever benefits them is right--they have no higher moral standards. Lost.

You have to stop these people short. That's the only thing they understand. Call it "tough love" but that's the kind of love you give to limited negative entities. Getting to the point of having compassion for them requires a level of saintliness that most ripped off and abused people find unrealistic.

Personally I try to operate towards these people out of neither love nor hate. This might be hard for some to understand. I see it more like fighting a cancer that has grown in our body politic. Worth fighting, necessary to fight--but not necessary to EITHER demonize or forgive it, in specific people. Just need to apply the necessary controls. Great if any of these unfortunates have epiphanies and come around. But that's not really the goal. The goal is more big picture--ie. slowing the disease mechanisms so that healthier forces can regain control and the level of hurt these groups inflict on others can be mitigated.
