CSPAN Washington Journal discussion on Graduation Rates....

Is anyone watching? Did you hear the lady who home schooled her child call in and decry the Des Moines school district for not honoring the home school credits? Then she ripped into the NEA for not being outspoken in support of home schooling, but speaking out in favor of gay marriage.
I know it's not the case will all home schoolers, but clearly there are some non-academic motives (i.e. fear of those who are somehow different) for many parents who choose that option.

1. I have certain issues with home schooling.

My Cousin does it, she is college educated and a certified educator (Florida) and an Evangelist from way back, very devout. her parents were and remain, missionaries. I worry that the children are not properly socialized in the home schooling setting. I believe that the social skills and that integration into society is a very important role that the public schools play.

2. If she's a certified teacher and they cannot afford private

school, why not... The education system here is totally inadequate.
