Helen Thomas - oppose the DLC - "Republican Lite"

Helen Thomas Says Democrats Should Get A New Script And Oppose The "DLC - Republican Lite"
by Lolligolli
Sat Jun 24, 2006 at 12:31:53 AM PDT

Even Helen Thomas believes Democrats need to get a spine and stand up to the "Republican lite" DLC conservatives in our own party. Sounding like one of our own, here at Daily Kos, Helen says Democrats need a new script:"

When are the Democrats going to get their act together?Surely, they are not going to let President Bush's political guru, Karl Rove, snooker them in the mid-term November election campaign as he did in the past two presidential elections.

What is he going to pull out of the hat? Soft on terrorism? Gay marriage? Flag burning? 9/11?

Are the Democrats going to be such easy prey again, neutralized by phony wedge issues and neglectful of the real issue, which is the administration's flagrant use of falsehoods to justify a war of choice?

The leaderless Democrats, speaking in a cacophony, are being outgunned by the conservatives and members of their own party representing the Democratic Leadership Council who are at heart "Republican lite."

2. They are already trying to reshape
the party with their conservative notions... I don't want to be that way... It doesn't work.. People need a choice that isn't like the Republicans, we do not need a reasonable facsimile....

4. It's not a spine they need to get. It's a TRANSPARENT vote count!
Somebody clue her in, okay? Doesn't she KNOW that the Democratic leaders will NEVER get their act together until they cop to their fear or collusion on privatized elections, run by two electronics corporations with very close ties to the Bush junta (Diebold and ES&S) using 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, with virtually no audit/recount controls?

This was the coup engineered by the two biggest crooks in Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney (abetted by Bilderberg 'Democrat' Christopher Dodd): the "Help America Vote for Bush Act" of 2002 (aka, HAVA, but really HAVBA), passed by the Anthrax Congress, and providing a $4 billion boondoggle with which to corrupt our entire election system in every state, and render the 2004 election NON-TRANSPARENT with illegal, private, secret vote counting under Bushite control. TRADE SECRET vote tabulation. No paper trail. No ban on partisan vendors. No ban on lavish lobbying and "revolving door" employment. Secret industry "testing" of the machines. Bullying regulators forcing the states to hastily purchase extremely insecure, extremely insider-hackable, crapass electronic voting systems that NOBODY understands except the private techs at Diebold and ES&S. Programming code so secret that not even our secretaries of state are permitted to review it.

And when one tried to--Calif Sec of State Kevin Shelley, in his lawsuit against Diebold (demanded their source code prior to the '04 election, decertified their touchscreens)--they 'swiftboated' him out of office on entirely bogus corruption charges, and replaced him with a Schwarzenegger Republican APPOINTEE, Bruce McPherson, who made the lawsuit go away, and has now illegally RE-certified the worst of Diebold's election theft machines, the touchscreens--prior to his own and Schwarzenegger's first real election this year.

Now, how did all this come about with no objection from the Democratic leadership? Are the Democrats insane? Why their SCREAMING SILENCE about BUSHITES COUNTING ALL THE VOTES WITH SECRET PROGRMMING CODE?

That's the heart of the matter. Right there. They all voted FOR it (with two surprising exceptions--Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer!). And have said NOT ONE WORD against it since. WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?

------------------------------------------------

Throw Diebold, ES&S and all election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor' NOW! --if you really want your country back!

 :patriot: :argh: :patriot:

7. While some elections may have been fixed
what about the ones that we won? How do you account for that if all elections are fixed where there are electronic voting machines and the Republicans control the state? How did Dems take over NJ when Whitman was the governor? How did Dems win in Montana, Colorado and several other states controlled by Republicans?

I think that by suggesting that Dodd is in on some kind of international conspiracy is tinfoil.

11. All the elections were fixed.
In blue states to give bush more votes so that if they failed in Ohio, to fix the votes, and In Fla they would have had a majority. Then they would throw the election because they had more votes. never underestimate the scoundrels. It was [part of Rove's plan. Remember Gore had 500,000 more votes. Can't let that happen to the demander in chief.

Politicians join TONS of organizations just to pad their resume. I wouldn't take this big long list to heart - about 10% of them are doing 90% of the damage.

15. Where did you get the list?
The DLC used to be proud of its membetship, and listed their membership on their site. They even had a search for members function on the front page. This all disappeared about 1 year ago, and now the DLC hides its membership.
I count this as a victory for us (the liberal NET), since the MSM never mentions the DLC. WE have succeeded in exposing the DLC as a front organization funneling Corporate Money into the Democratic Party in exchange for Pro-Ceo legislation.

Thank You, Helen!!!!!

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans.
I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans,
family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."--- Senator Paul Wellstone

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

21. Thank you for clarifying this!
I've been going mad looking for a membership list on their site, certain that I had seen one in the past.

Thom Hartmann says that the DLC is the neocon attempt to infiltrate the Democratic Party & that it's working. I agree. I am not going to vote for anyone just cuz they have a (D) behind their name. Arghhh!! Ken Salazar is such a disappointment! And I beleive a member of the DLC.
