King papers will not be auctions
Morehouse College Says It Will Receive Martin Luther King Papers

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Many of Martin Luther King Jr.'s original writings were supposed to hit the auction block at Sotheby's on June 30.

Among them is the draft of the "I Have A Dream" speech and the original letter from the Birmingham jail.

Historians worried the papers would end up in the hands of private collectors, but on Friday, Morehouse College, King's alma mater, announced that all of the papers will go to the college instead.
