1. Won't this piss off the Corporate Wing of the Democratic Party?
Edited on Sun Jun-25-06 02:28 AM by Selatius
Y'know, the folks who lovingly accept a sizeable percentage of their campaign money from big telecom corporations, credit card corporations, finance giants, pharmaceutical giants, etc.?

Night of the long knives.

The rise of the DLC and the decline of the Democratic party was not coincidence.

3. I think the decline started when Bobby was finally silenced along with MLK
With those two gone, the direction in the country was lost. The movement died like a chicken with its head cut off. Today's America is the product of those events.

I digress, though. I kind of find the reference to the night of long knives not so flattering to more progressive Dems. Rather, I prefer something more along the lines of a working class uprising like the Orange Revolution of the Ukraine. If anything, such a reference is more apt to the corporatist takeover of the Republican party where the old guard paleocons were replaced by neocons and the religious fundamentalists.

4. Yes I think you are right
The next night of the long knives has probably already been scheduled by the Neocons.

6. And even Dems who support offshoring...
(which renders my bumper sticker I bought yesterday about conservatives, offshoring, and national security... oh well.)

5. Here's hoping they can get public financing of elections..and soon

But it would have to be mandatory or they could be shooting themselves in the foot..

The ONLY solution to the mess we are in , is to eliminate "big money" from our electoral process and to OUTLAW corporate lobbyists..

it we have a "free market", the corporations should be able to stand on their own..or maybe they should not be in business in the first place.. Isn't that the republican dream??self-sufficiency? The corporations are using our legislative body to support them..at the espense of the planet and all the people on it... for what?? money..

Money truly iS the root of all evil..
