1. Strangely, you can get that book for twenty cents from certain
conservative groups -- I saw it on Google ads!

Which means SOMEONE bought up huge numbers of copies to resell on the internet. Could that actually count toward "bestseller" status?

21. not even 20 cents?
LOL You're right, she brings a new spin to propaganda.

I wonder if the NYT would be willing to investigate on how many of her books were sold to each buyer at a time (no names needed) and do an article on it? Although, I won't hold my breath on that one.

3. check the list in your newspaper. she usually has a symbol beside
her name that shows she is a bulk buy phenom. groups buy her books in bulk to put her there and then they get discounted in bin sales. they did the same thing to make ralph reed look powerful by leading tours through buildings of busily working people who were hired to do just that. its all smoke and mirrors.

7. My local had her at #1
without asterisks to a bargain bin, but due credit to the NYT. I would post that link, but it's subscription.

Godless, my ass !

4. two words you should get to know well:
Bargain Bin

It's easy to reach the top 5 (or even #1) when you get both a shitload of free publicity by the Mainstream Media you claim hates you and when your book is being sold for $4.99 after just one week in release.

I mean, she's competing with books that cost around $25, not to mention the huge amount of foaming-at-the-mouth Freepers who wouldn't have any problem spending $20 to buy four copies, just so it would go up the charts, and make godless Libruls like you despair.

5. Why is this hag not held to account
for what seems to be plaigarism? Imagine if Al Franken had just one single rip-off like Coulter's many in one of his books? In addition to O'Reilly having a cranial blowout, the cable news whores would be having on-air orgasms for weeks!
I can't see what they get out of protecting this coke ho. It's not like she's ever polite to them on air, and she writes appalling things about them as a bunch of media libruls.
What's the deal here? Why the protection?

26. Enough of the "Big Russ" Crap
This guy can't stop hussling now. He's out there shilling his "family values" by using his father and his "humble origins" to be the foundation of his corrupt and inept life. Nice try Timmeh.

Actually, Russert should write a book about his close dealings with his real Sugar Daddy...Jack Welch...who told him to play the good "company man" (just like Big Russ I guess) and sell out your values and integrity to promote the corporate agenda of General Electric.

8. For those who don't understand this, let me explain...
Don't worry about the asterisks.

Yes, the NYT has asterisks for bulk purchase, but what? No asterisks next to Eva Braun's tome?

Look, the simple bottom line is that the Republicans are onto that "disqualifier" are are gaming the system some other way.

You're pretty stupid if you think the Freepers would have ANY hesitation to do whatever was necessary to game the system (ANY SYSTEM) and get this book (and those like it) into the potential hands of open minded people....

Only 25% of the people BELIEVE in this line stuff any more and they don't need to buy a book to confirm their faith.

The sales are a con job. If they're getting away with bulk sales now as they did before the NYT picked up on their OLD method of gaming the system, it doesn't mean they WEREN'T doing it BEFORE the asterisks, and it doesn't mean they're not doing it NOW.

Worry about Coulter when she comes up with a real idea rather than just playing the same note of "shock jock" of conservative writers.

10. Yes, but don't people choose book purchases
based on such lists ? I'm just sad she's even making money off morans, and then she's given a MAN-date to spew more venom. Ick.

15. Unfortunately yes.
Absolutely. And bookstores will carry her books, and book clubs will automatically mail her books out, and book reviewers will review her book and not try to be "biased" (ie: truthful) in the review....

You said it. Ick.

One of the great Republican "mantras" is win, Win, W*I*N. You lost, get over it..

I can tell you from being a Former Rush Limbaugh Fan, it's one of the big appeals of Republicans - they're "winners". That's the way it plays, at least.

So being on the "best sellers list" regardless of QUALITY or CONTENT is CREDENCE for them.

It MEANS/EQUALS in their 25% universe that their ideas have merit and are worth respectful consideration.

The point is, however. that the whole *premise* is BS. They WILL SUCCEED in gaming this system, but we have to remember that is *IS* BEING MANIPULATED.

Do I have proof? No. But you wouldn't have had any such proof before the bulk sales were found to manipulate the list. Again, having no proof of your suspicions before the asterisk did NOT mean they weren't gaming the system THEN, as I know, in my BONES, they're gaming it NOW.

17. Thanks, you don't need "proof".....
you explained it very well. Unfortunately, the more people discuss a book (like we're doing now) Buzz is created, and the sales go up. So I'll stop now

11. fools and their money...
you know the saying.

I say - who cares. It isn't as if she is an incredibly persuasive author, who is going to change minds and thus win converts. She is a "too the choir" phenom. If the choir wants to toss their money to that shrill harpy - power to them and their $25 poorer selves.

19. I want hard numbers.
Does anyone know any way of finding out what kind of numbers we are talking about here?? 10,000? 50,000? 100,000?
Do any of these lists actually list the actual sales numbers, or does anyone know where to get them online? How did people find out the actual numbers for the sale of Mary Cheney's book?
