Either Cheney Lied - Or - He Showed Unconscionable Ignorance
Edited on Mon Jun-26-06 12:15 AM by kpete
Did Cheney Know Of Casey's Redeployment Plan When He Said Democrats' Redeployment Plan Was "Worst Possible Thing?"

Should we assume that Cheney -- by various accounts a hands-on player since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and noted to be one of the architects of the Iraq War -- was not in the loop about Casey's briefing to Rumsfeld and Pace? It's extremely far-fetched.

The only other excuse is extreme naivete -- the assumption that Casey's plan would not be known by the public for several months, or after the Republicans had successfully linked the idea of "Democrats = white flag" in the minds of voters.

If true, it would be the latest example of Cheney putting partisan politics above Iraq War policy.

Last week, Cheney either lied or showed unconscionable ignorance when he suggested no one "anticipated the level of violence" from an Iraqi insurgency. And he played Americans for fools when he redefined his infamous "last throes" comment of a year ago.

Someone who so brazenly plays with the facts could certainly be capable of denouncing the Democrats' plan, while simultaneously being aware of Casey's similar plan, right?

3. Cheney simply has no regard for the truth. None. He'll say whatever

seems most politically expedient for himself at that particular instant. He may contradict the statement moments later. Remember during the debates, when he claimed never to have met Edwards before? He obviously had, and there was photographic and video proof of it. No one really called him on it, of course.

I don't think he even *considers* what the objective facts are. He just doesn't care. Why should he? He's a Republican- it's not like he'll see any consequences.

4. Where's the scumbag option? I think that covers all of Cheney's
motivations. He doesn't strike me as particularly bright, but the profit motive pretty much drives his reptillian brain.

so hung up on "truth." And "reality."

:eyes:

what matters is that Unka Dick is a great and courageous leader who is proud to serve his Preznt, king george.

And that Dmocrats want to cut and run because they are maggots.

It is much easier when you let go of reality.

Really.

Cheney's pronouncements won't slow the dittohead freeper crowd down for a nanosecond.

7. Cheney's a Sociopath who
lies and then lies about his lies even when someone shows him a video of him lying. The Bush Regime were planning on a drawdown all along because they knew that the Iraqi Govt. were going to call for a drawdown. The Iraq situation has deteriorated to the US Troops killing innocent civilians in droves. Before a mass rebellion occured the US Military and the Mercs had to be curbed.

6. Purely partisan.
The GOP says the Dems have no plans.
The Dems come up with a plan.
The Dems' plan is for redeployment.
The GOP criticises the Dems' plan and the Dems for making plans.
The GOP renames the Dems' plan and follow it.

Who gets credit for the plan, the creators or the renamers?

8. Dick wouldn't know the truth if it crawled up his ample ass...
but apparently the freepers think there are 3 possibilities
a) Story about cutbacks was planted by the administration to
"ferret out a leaker"
b) It is a political ploy to make dems look foolish if they now
oppose the withdrawals
c) It is made up bs by the liberal media
silly freepers, they are so in denial! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1655486/posts

11. It's a real simple tactic - made the more simple by
expecting (and rightly so) the majority of the public to "hear" (and think) only in sound bites/slogans/easy to remember talking points

Link anti-war & pro-withdrawal groups with "coward", "cut and run" and any other negative spin you can think of

then come out with basically the same idea...but claim your plan is somehow different...even if the bottom line is exactly the same ( withdrawal/reduction with time-table verses no time-table still equals withdrawal)

Earlier today on the news (CNNi) it was reported the "Casey Plan" (per GOP spin) was different because it didn't set a time-table, allowing the Iraq "government" the chance to gain a stronger footing...echoes of the talking point (as they stand up/we stand down...and all the variations on that lame, tired` theme)...so the "Casey Plan" is an extension of Bush's plan when viewed (through the spin) that way...and not a Democratic proposal...who want to "cut and run" and abandon the "mission" (a secure Iraqi government..per Bush's rhetoric/spin/lies/bullshit)

The negative spin gains a foothold (cut and run, cowards, surrender)...and the rest gets lost in the politicking...

So, yeah, Cheney knew about the "Casey Plan"...and was attempting to do damage control (their plan of reduction by November was one-upped, so to speak) and get in negative attacks in hopes of shaping the future debate..the one that's taking place now...Casey Plan is the Democratic proposal...is not!(GOP) is too!(Democratic Party)
