AP hit piece on Feingold and Kerry

Kerry, Feingold Form Unorthodox Alliance On Iraq

Democrats Considering Presidential Run In 2008

UPDATED: 10:36 am CDT June 27, 2006

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- One epitomizes the Washington political establishment as the Democratic Party's most recent presidential nominee. The other is the quintessential Democratic outsider -- proud to be the only senator to vote against the USA Patriot Act.

But U.S. Sens. John Kerry, D- Mass., and Russ Feingold, D-Wis., have joined forces to push a proposal that would have required troops to leave Iraq by July of next year.

They might soon have something else in common -- both are considering presidential races in 2008.

Former Kerry Senate campaign strategist Dan Payne said that it seems to be a "marriage of convenience."

He said that Feingold wants to be considered of presidential stature, and Kerry wants to look like he can work with others to reach a compromise.

Both Kerry and Feingold insist politics has nothing to do with it.

:wtf:

Unorthodox?

Marriage of convenience?

Insist politics has nothing to do with it?

:wtf: :wtf:

The AP has given up trying to appear unbiased!

4. Well, then I guess if you like Russ, you better care about the
smear campaign the media has on Kerry and then Feingold or Gore or Clinton etc...

You didn't get the point.

9. That's nice dear. But what do you think of the smear article
against BOTH of them?

As for me, I don't need to say screw Russ to support Kerry. Either would be fine with me.

10. Hey, Kerry has really tried to have our backs and has been
very vocal and active in pursuing what is important to all of us. You may not prefer him over Feingold, but it isn't necessary to slam him. I prefer Kerry over Feingold, yet I am not slamming him. Please, have a little courtesy.

12. Why on earth, is this your response to this?
Kerry and Feingold are working together with te goal to change the policy in Iraq. They both complimented each other. They were not doing anything to hurt each other - in fact it's clear that they are showing respect for each other. I assume if Feingold becomes the nominee, one of the people he will be able to count on the most as a surrogate is John Kerry. (If you remember 2004, many Democrats were beyond weak.)

I would have no problem if your response was simply "I want Rus". Kerry certainly doesn't deserve your hostility here.

14. This hit was on BOTH of them - nice of you to care, but......
since Russ is 100 times better, then you won't mind sharing a list of all the battles in the senate that he has taken up over the last 13 years, will you?

I think he's a great voting senator on most everything but nominees, but I have trouble locating instances where Russ actually stuck his neck out and FOUGHT for a Dem issue or stood tough with other senators in their battles over the last 13 years.

Can you help clarify and post a list? Thanks.

Don't be ridiculous. They are both great Democrats, and they are both fighting to do the right thing.

Uh, I understand your frustration with this particular article, but if you look at the new posts, there is currently a story up about the AP talking about Bush "breaking laws and vexxing Congress." I think this is just an example of bad writing, nothing deliberately sinister.

5. There is a pattern of Dem bashing, though, irrespective of whether
there is criticism of Bush or not. In 2004, there was news coverage critical of the conduct of the Iraq War and various other policies of the Bush administration. However, there were incessant personal attacks on Kerry, while Bush was always described as a "strong leader who related to regular people". That kind of bias has NOT changed, and if anything has gotten worse. Kerry was just the latest Democrat, but it will continue on any Democrat who proves to be a threat to the D.C. Establishment.

6. Shouldn't the word "analysis" or "commentary" appear somewhere there?
That sure isn't a straight news story.

Marriage of convenience my ass. They both have similar plans now that Kerry caught up to Feingold, so it made sense to go with what they both believe.

Is there an email address for writing to these people and letting them know that their editorializing is not appreciated?
