10. Makes me angry that even this simple
question has to be posed in a negative manner. Why not ask "was the times "right"......

15. PUSH POLL ALERT!!!!
"sensitive government programs" instead of TRACKING OFFSHORE BANKING.

Orwellian language at its finest.

It doesn't seem to have made too much of a difference, the majority still think the NYT did the right thing.

21. I don't think it will make much of a difference
We should know about these things. These are our banking records that are being examined.

The Bush regime is indiscriminately examine any private records it can get hold of us fishing for terrorists. And if they are fishing for terrorists like that, they can be fishing for dissidents, too. It is very much our business to know about this. It is not a legitimate use of so-called war powers that only Cheney and Gonzales seem to think are in the Constitution.

Just a thought. I posted about their supporting the propaganda instead of investigating the crime.

27. 40% of the American People are dumb asses. My comments to MSNBC
Copy of my comment to them:

"Excuse me, but isn't this "old" news? Don't we all already know that the Government if following money transactions to find terrorist funding? Are your newscasters trying to present this story like NOBODY knew that this was going on and the NY Times just spilled the beans? I must be a friggin' genius, because I already knew and I am not in the Government or the media!!!! How can this be????"

40% Yes - 60% No.

But then, that's in keeping with the freeping of the U.S., in which 40% of respondents allegedly support the heinous criminals who are running our country. x(

37. to quote the comments of a fellow Dem:
"The LA Times and the Wall Street Journal also reported on the story. Funny how only the NYT comes under such fierce criticism.

It's been common knowledge that the Justice Dept. goes after banking records for years and years, well before 2001. But even since then, I remember the administration crowing about successes in thwarting Al Qaeda through financial intelligence early on.

This is a non-story in and of itself. What is telling is how the administration is using it to bash "the liberal media" and create a sense of distrust. If this was such a horrible thing, why did it take four days to respond to it? Most likely to a) develop an attack strategy and b) hit the Monday news cycle instead of wasting their breath during the weekend when most people don't pay attention to the news.

Political manipulation."
