Russert asked Feingold a stupid question on Sunday, apparently hoping to make Feingold uncomfortable about supporting a Democrat over a "friend." The Post seems to have caught Russert's drift. Note the snarky headline (which only works if you think there's something unseemly about a Democrat supporting a Democrat) :eyes: :

On NBC's "Meet the Press," Tim Russert asked Sen. Russ ell Feingold (D-Wis.) if he would come to Connecticut to campaign for Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (D), who faces a tough primary.
FEINGOLD: I have a lot of admiration for Joe. He's a fine guy. He helped me a great deal with campaign finance reform. I think Ned Lamont's positions on the issues are much closer to mine on the critical issues. I think this is going to be something decided by the people of Connecticut. I'm not going to go up there, but I'll tell you this, Tim, I will support the Democratic nominee, whoever that is.
RUSSERT: So if Lamont beats Lieberman, you're for Lamont?
FEINGOLD: That's correct.
RUSSERT: And you will not campaign for Lieberman if he asks you?
FEINGOLD: I am not getting involved in the primary. If Joe Lieberman wins the primary, I campaign for him. If Ned Lamont wins the primary, I campaign for him.
