Indiana lands huge Honda Plant.
Greensburg, Indiana

Honda will build a half billion dollar automotive plant in Indiana.

All the politicians are crowing...

Funny how the same politicians always told use that we needed to get away from manufacturing and become a service economy. So why do they crow so much when something as lowly as a car making plant comes to town?

I thought we needed the jobs of the future?

My two cents.

1. Some good news at least.
Funny how GM and Ford are moving out of the U.S., but a Japanese automaker is moving in.

2. GOP blames the Unions of course.
Even if GM had no Union employees it would stil abandon the US in my opinion

7. Unions aren't the problem...
This shift started when emphasis in stock investment started to crank up, when the NAFTA was made, and when corporations started to buy congress. Its very possible to make items in the US, make them union and make them affordable.

Buy American, the job you save could be your own. THAT MEANS NO WALMART SHOPPING!

Wanna see what the corporations' ultimate goal is? Watch 'Roger and Me' and take a good look at Flint.

12. Yep, my father is a union organizer...

I think he said that on average union members make 15% more.

So 30000 w/o a union or
34500 w/ a union - 300 dollar membership fees

A lot of People write off unions because of their membership fees.

Unions have tried organizing in Mexico for years but the corporations hire hit men to kill or intimidate organizers. Sad thing.

5. well, disappointing for the 2 Ohio sites
for sure - IIRC it was a projected 10,000 jobs. But good for our neighbors in Indiana - should also spark some supplier jobs.
