House Repukes Are Introducing A Resolution Today Condemning The NYT
Edited on Wed Jun-28-06 05:18 AM by cali
Unbelievable. In a concentrated effort, those bastards are doing everything possible to intimidate the NYT. Actually, they're going farther than that; they're trying to cripple it. In addition, that miserable little puke from Arizona, JD Hayworth is spearheading an effort to revoke the Time's congressional press credentials- not that that stands a chance in hell of succeeding. From The Hill Newspaper, here is an exerpt:

By Patrick O’Connor and Jonathan Allen

House Republican leaders are expected to introduce a resolution today condemning The New York Times for publishing a story last week that exposed government monitoring of banking records.

The resolution is expected to condemn the leak and publication of classified documents, said one Republican aide with knowledge of the impending legislation.

The resolution comes as Republicans from the president on down condemn media organizations for reporting on the secret government program that tracked financial records overseas through the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT), an international banking cooperative.

Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.), working independently from his leadership, began circulating a letter to House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) during a late series of votes yesterday asking his leaders to revoke the Times’s congressional press credentials.

1. Why don't the Democrats offer a resolution to condem the
WH for their leaks?

3. What they actually exposed
was a successful breach by the US Adminustration of all of the EEC Data Protection Act laws.

I have a feeling this issue is going to seriously backfire on *.

10. I don't think it's merely a PR stunt
It's more ominous than that. I believe they have a strategy that culminates in prosecution, and that this resolution is about laying the groundwork for such. Yes, it may backfire, but it's still a serious attempt to undermine the 1st Amendment.

6. things like this are a perfect opportunity for the dems to discuss
the fact that we are not actually at 'war'. The only time BushCo limps out the 'war powers' phrase (which is what they'll do in this case) is when they know they've done something demonstrably unconstitutional.

7. Now that flag burning is out of the way they must suppress the media
I hope an action like this turns a few more reporters on their ears and we start seeing the truth in the media again.

8. They're not doing it to intimidate the NYT............
they're doing it to enliven their base. The Republican goobers hate the "librul media" and will get a woody because the Republicans in Congress are "standing up to them". They're SOOOOO predictable! :eyes: We can see the Republicans' election strategy unfolding like a bad movie but we're powerless to do anything about it. They always bring up these issues close to election time and their brain-dead supporters always fall for it, even if it's against their own interests, which it usually is.

12. JD "Hog" Hayworthless is a real HAM!

JD is pigging out on his "playing politics" ahead of election time. He loved the Times when they were hyping Bush's phony war dances and the Clinton Witch Hunt, but now he's turned(Flip Flopped)on his old pals. A Piggy Dude Indeed!

14. Just out of curiosity
do you have any evidence, perhaps in the form of statements of praise, that Hayworth loved the NYT?
Somehow I doubt that he's ever been a fan.

15. JD "Hoghead" Hayworthless has studied Groping 101, at the
Arnold "Ziffel" Gropenfuhrer School of GOPer Stagecraft and he's helping/mugging this old vet along to the poorhouse...

A hugging and mugging all in one fell swoop is the GOP way all the way...

coherent on events in this country or Middle East ... most of them have their heads so far up

18. NYT reporters better strike back NOW by reporting on their dirty laundry
They should use every ounce of energy and connection they have to expose EVERY petty crime and sexual deviance committed by refucklicans.

Well, that's what I would do.

little Stevie said, in response to his discussing the house going after the Times, that those two papers ran the story, so WHY is the Times being singled out

this fat prick said, NO, they didn't!

Steve, of course, didn't have the nads to tell him he was full of hog feed, but I can't believe the guy SAID that!!!!!

a shredder, pack the bits in envelopes and mail them to Hastert.
