Poll question: How much do you support democracy in Iraq ?

Do you truly hope the Iraqis succeed, even if it will reflect positively on Bush and the war supporters?

want and support. If that's a western-style democracy, great. But the choice is theirs, not ours.

3. I hope that they get the government they want.

I'm not sure what that is for Iraqis, how foreign a concept democracy is for them, culturally. Whatever it is, I want them to decide, not at the end of our bayonets.

4. Hard to answer. I want the Iraqi people to have what THEY want!

If that's democracy, that would be great, but maybe that's NOT what they want. They might want something closer to a theocracy, or more like Iran. I think it's crazy for the US to force democracy on anyone! First, it's not possible to do! People have to want that form of Gov't. Second, I'm not convinced it really IS the best form of gov't. Many times I prefer the parlimentary style.

All of their laws are faith-based. Like it or not, it's an Islamic state with a layer of democracy icing on top, that will be licked off once the occupation army departs.

9. Well, apparently I'm buying them 1,200 duce-n-halfs, 1,000 Hummers and

all the weapons and ammo they can carry.

Looks like I'm supporting it whether I want to or not.

But, what I'd rather be doing is supporting democracy here in the U.S.
