Knowing your Government is SPYING on you is a matter of National Security.
If the government is running secret operations that don't violate human Civil Liberties nor compromise the balance of power within the government, then fine, conduct the operations. Keeping that a secret is a matter of National Security. I agree.

However, if the government (or some rogue element within it) is running secret operations that are in violation of the U.S. Constitution, American Civil Liberties, The Bill of Rights, Geneva Conventions, or which upset the balance of power by eliminating vital "checks and balances" across the 3 branches of government, then said secret operations MUST BE EXPOSED to the public in order to preserve the National Security of the United States of America.

The United States Government is a government of the people, for the people, by the people. That's you and me. To keep such illegal operations a secret from us creates a rift between "We the People" and our Government. That is dangerous.

Illegal Secrets threaten our National Security, a kind of damage no terrorist could ever inflict.

One who argues otherwise is attempting (ignorantly or with purpose) to chisel away at the columns of justice and freedom that this great country is supported by. With "friends" like that, who needs enemies?

1. bushco hates us for our freedom
EVERYTHING they have done has been part of the effort to put us under the heel of an oligarchy.

2. Bravo.
We're preaching the spread of constitutional democracy around the world and destroying it here at home.

5. More than likely the spying is for political reasons
I'll bet that the files on bushie's enemies are very thick -- and even the most innocent of facts could be used to blackmail even a saint. Snip pieces of conversation along with credit card bills and someone could be shown to be doing something illegal or immoral.

"Why did that politician vote that way??" -- s/he was probably blackmailed.
