Coulter: During WWII, Pol Who Criticized Bush Might Be Shot

NEW YORK Ann Coulter, in a talk with sympathetic interviewer George Gurley in the New York Observer, once again had death on her mind.

"I've been reluctant to name traitors -- but I've got one for you: Ron Klink, some former Democrat Congressman, is blaming the plot to blow up the Sears Tower on the fact that Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction," she told Gurley in the page-one story for the July 3 Observer. "If this were World War II circumstances, and we had the virtues of that era, Ron Klink would be lined up and shot. THAT'S a traitor."

Coulter, author of "Godless: The Church of Liberalism" and a columnist for Universal Press Syndicate, was asked by Gurley what she would do if she became "emperor" of the United States.

"Deport all liberals," Coulter replied.

She also said liberals "apparently the total destruction of the United States," and that they can't stop attacking her. "They're like my pets," Coulter commented.

"If this were World War II circumstances, and we had the virtues of that era, Ron Klink would be lined up and shot. THAT'S a traitor."

"As a matter of general principle, I believe there can be no doubt that criticism in time of war is essential to the maintenance of any kind of democratic government ... too many people desire to suppress criticism simply because they think that it will give some comfort to the enemy to know that there is such criticism. If that comfort makes the enemy feel better for a few moments, they are welcome to it as far as I am concerned, because the maintenance of the right of criticism in the long run will do the country maintaining it a great deal more good than it will do the enemy, and will prevent mistakes which might otherwise occur."
