Bush tells Americans they want more war instead of listening to them
His approach, he declared, is "not based on political polls or focus groups," but on the belief that "we must stay on the offense in order to protect America."

"The American people expect the government to protect them," Bush told an enthusiastic crowd of 500 at a fundraising dinner for U.S. Sen. Jim Talent, R-Mo., at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton.

The poll of 800 likely voters in Missouri also showed that 54 percent did not think the Iraq war was worth it and that 60 percent wanted at least some troops to come home.

1. The American people expect the government to protect them,"
From more than just Terrorism. We expect the government to protect us from large corporations and foreign dumping of products on our markets and stealing our jobs and environmental degradation. There is a lot more to caring for a nation than war..GOP just doesn't get that fact.
