Poll question: A poll on NJ-PA floods
Who thinks that this will be repaired a hell of a lot faster than NOLA?

5. I saw the photos in the Binghamton paper online
It looks just like it did after Agnes hit in '72 -- river flooding and terrible creek flooding. I lived with my folks on one of the high points then (in Broome County, in Endicott), but some of our friends were wiped out.

Hope you and yours are okay.

I don't see why this would be handled any more efficiently than NOLA. Same bunch of fuckups and cronies. Now watch this drive . . .

before New Orleans. Although, the damage in New Orleans was greater and the bungling was/has been attrocious.

6. The topography is different.
The topography is different.

Here in the Northeast, we don't live in areas that are below
sea level so there's no question that the flood waters will
leave on their own; there's no need to fix levees, fix el-
ectrical infrastructure, fix pumps, and then pump the water
out.

Plus, again because we're not below sea level to begin with,
there's a lot less debate about whether or not to repair or
abandon; small areas nearest some rivers might finally be
abandoned but the areas as a whole will be rebuilt.

It also seems that the state and local authorities have done a fairly good job of handling things.
