(I mean that specifically AND generally.) I would like to think this trip will be a PR disaster like the last time he was here, but this time they are linking it to Independence Day "celebrations." I remember the creepy feeling that fell over the city the last time he was here. I didn't have any plans to leave town because I have a lot of work to do, but I may have to rethink that.http://www.fayettevillenc.com/article?id=236319Bush to visit BraggBy Paul Woolverton

President Bush is expected to visit Fort Bragg for the Fourth of July, according to Republican activist Robert C. Anderson and several people who spoke on the condition that their names not be used.
The visit will be in the morning, said one source. The president is expected to visit with the troops and their families as part of the holiday activities, the source said. The president is not expected to venture away from Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base during his visit.

For security reasons, the White House rarely publicizes upcoming presidential visits until shortly beforehand, said a congressional staffer who had no information about the visit. However, the staffer said, word typically spreads through a community once White House personnel and others contact local officials in preparation for visits.

This would be Bush’s third visit to the Fayetteville and Fort Bragg community. In June 2005, Bush returned to Fort Bragg to speak before 700 soldiers and airman gathered for a nationally televised speech. In the speech, Bush reiterated that the nation’s war in Iraq was vital in the war against terrorism.
