The Fourth Estate's fortunes have waned. The press, as we know it, has ceased to exist..

And what is this thing called EPIC?"

Excellent but chilling contemplation on the scary future direction of media and democracy. From "The Museum of Media History".

Well worth the viewing minutes (flash anim).

2. We must be the only two people who think so.
Here is a good summary page I found at a different link this AM for those who can't or don't want to access the flash:

3. You got 3 recommends, so there's at least two others...
Most folks don't have sufficient understanding of computers and their capabilities to see that this is not "just science fiction", nor to extrapolate the unintended consequences of this.

They see something like "minority opinion" (the eye scanning and subsequent personal advertising) and think, "what a cool special effect"

5. I thank you for your feedback.
I've had this one in my bookmarks for a long time.
Perhaps I'll try linking it again here some other day, further along in time.
Speculative as it is, it really haunts me.

7. Mixed reaction
First off, of course it's possible - as it stands now, only "tradition" is keeping print and televised news afloat. A few baby steps in the programming future, and this is an extremely likely outcome...

I must say the idea of a worldwide intepersonal news network is at once the most thrilling and the most terrifying thing I've ever thought of.

9. I posted about this last year, or rather, the guy who developed it.
The guy that developed this theory might be in cahoots with BushCo, how scary is that?
