2. Graceland has ceramic monkeys!
There are the shag carpets and ceramic monkeys of the Jungle Room, which Elvis famously furnished with a 30-minute shopping spree;

3. I doubt the Chimp was ever an Elvis fan.
He wasn't even hip enough for Elvis.

''Mr Koizumi, 64, and Presley were both born on January 8, {1942}

Elvis fan websites say the Japanese leader is an enthusiastic member of his country's Elvis Presley fan club and even sang along to an Elvis number - I Want You, I Need You, I Love You - played at a banquet during a visit to Australia last year.''

10. I read an article that said the Japanese leader...
sang "I Want You, I Need You" along with Bush yesterday. I guess that song is part of Koizumi's schtick.

11. Elvis is REALLY popular in Japan...I have a great picture

of two japanese fans in Memphis, dressed in 50s clothes, the guy with the huge pompadour, and the girl with a full, felt skirt, complete with poodles

I love Graceland; it's like going to the county fair, with the entire crowd consisting of side show exhibits and the gawkers that frequent them

I was there for the 20th Death anniversary...over forty thousand pilgrims, from ALL over the world.

freak city

I spent the afternoon and evening with this guy

Peter Singh is known at The Rocking Sikh

Another fan of The King, Peter Singh, known as the Rocking Sikh, had donned his favourite Elvis costume to mark the anniversary with a tribute concert with his band, The Poppadoms.

........

he gave me a copy of his album: Turbans Over Memphis; not kidding. one of the songs is Poppadom Rock.
one side is Elvis covers, the other is all originals.

he grew up in Wales, has an amazingly beautiful, DEEP voice....very reminiscent of Richard Burton; strong Welsh accent

13. I am an Elvis fan so I hate to see Bush associated with him....
in any way. I'm happy to hear the Japanese are also Elvis fans. Graceland sounds very interesting and fun. The first song I learned to play on the piano was "Love Me Tender".
