London – Canadian PETA Europe campaigner Anita Singh, accompanied by 15 “blood”-spattered “seals” scattered over a giant Canadian flag, will lead a Canada Day protest of the Canadian seal slaughter outside the Canadian High Commission in London. The protesters – who will hold a large banner reading, “Canada Kills Baby Seals – Shame”, as well as large photos showing seals who are being slaughtered – are calling on the Canadian government to permanently end the seal hunt, the largest massacre of marine mammals in the world. The protesters will remind consumers that the gruesome slaughter is a direct result of the demand for fur – any fur:

Date: Friday, 30 June
Time: 12 noon sharp
Place: In front of the Canadian High Commission, Canada House

1. Good.
The harp seal slaughter needs to be ended now. Keeping up the pressure in between pupping seasons can only help to make that happen.

3. Oh god dammit NO! WTF is wrong with the Canucks?
This is just going to encourage the anti-flag burning/desecration crowd. . .

7. Fur is disgusting
I have never like fur, and never will. It is a selfish indulgence at the expense of innocent animals when there are lots of alternatives.

I've been in many debates with people who think fur is great, and they always say, "Well, what about Eskimos, what should they use?" Uh, unless you are an Eskimo and/or MUST kill animals for their fur or pelt, that is a pathetic and hollow argument.

Sorry, this topic just gets me worked up. :grr:
