Cool website of the day....
Gives you the real time location of every aircraft over the US at any given moment..... ( would've been great to have this on 9/11.) You can also get tail numbers, to and from locations, arrival times, etc. Just WOW.

5. Into 69 Hustler Magazine?
Edited on Fri Dec-30-05 11:29 AM by TheDebbieDee
Is this what the tail number (N269HM) of Larry Flynt's jet stands for?

4. Actually we did have it on 9/11
Maybe not this particular website, but I distinctly remember turning on the Today show at 7am CDT, and the newswoman was pointing out exactly where the "hijacked planes" were, out over Ohio and turning back for their final run.

And yet somehow an SOP was countermanded, and no fighter jets were sent up to intercept until it was too late. Wonder why:eyes:

6. excellent site, indeed!
Thanks for posting this.

I found the animation of a typical 24 hour period to be quite intriguing:

8. Any pilots here on DU?
Can you actually pick your own tail number? I would've thought it was assigned by the FAA.

I thought the Larry Flynt one was a joke, but it's actually his plane.

9. wait...you thought I was joking?
come one man, Quetta don't joke!! This site is incredibly addictive.....zoom in on any airport, direction, arrival, departure....the only thing it doesn't give you is who is on board. That'll probably be in next years interwebs.

10. Yeah, it sounded...
sorta "too good to be true". So I looked it up, and there it is, Larry Flynt Publications. Whaddya know.

I guess the FAA wants pilots to be able to easily remember their tail number, so they can choose their own? Looks like they don't monitor them though, the way the DMV monitors dirty license plates.

13. There were sites like this long before 9/11, btw.
Just as an FYI, I used to use a web site much like this to kill time. I can't remember the name though- it was back in 98. I loved the "pick a random flight" button. Oh well.
